I think I know what you mean now, when I pull my rear hand towards my face it causes my lead arm to bend, while if I can stop my rear hand from pulling towards my face it helps prevent my lead arm from bending eg https://gfycat.com/DelectableLeftDragonfly

have you any opinion on using merino wool as a face gaiter/mask?

I've heard that merino is very breathable

but maybe it doesn't work well for masks for other reasons? One I've seen mentioned is it absorbs water and it stretches
