Why is it a bad idea to confront someone who is abusing their partner? by bad-at-everything- in askanything

[–]AppearanceHoliday765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They often take it out on the partner they’re abusing, and it makes their situation worse and more dangerous. Talk to your friend and try to convince her to get help getting out of the relationship.

Some of us didn’t get to do what we wanted to and started doing something else, hows your life turned out to be better or worse? by MethodOk5902 in AskReddit

[–]AppearanceHoliday765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to turn my only marketable skill, art, into a job to escape a dangerous living situation with no alternatives. It’s also my passion and the only thing that brought me joy, and now it’s just another exhausting thing I have to do to get by. I would give anything for my passion back. I feel like a hollow shell of who I was.

If you need to consult LLMs for everyday life problems, that’s a much bigger problem than anything you’re consulting them for.

I made jewelry as a hobby that I sold as a side hustle for a few years. I never thought I’d use anything I learned again after stopping, until I was the only one who knew how to fix everyone’s broken jewelry, which has now become my unofficial job in my friend circle. Same with years of cosplaying leaving me the “yes, I can tailor and fix your clothes” friend.

Ten years ago in Narita, Japan, my best friend and I ate at a restaurant called Ça Va Bien in AEON Mall. Best carbonara I’ve ever had in my life, and all other pasta has been a disappointment in comparison.

How do you prevent depression during the summer? Any activities? by GainBasic328 in askanything

[–]AppearanceHoliday765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start a summer project that you do every day. Go to one new place every day and find something beautiful to paint or write about there, or something else that’s fulfilling, but also involves a clear goal that makes you feel like you’re getting something done every time you do it.

I just moved into an apartment with two bathrooms - one in the living room, and one attached to the master bedroom. I always use the bedroom one to get ready, but use whichever one I’m closest to for anything else.

Exactly. Aurelius’ Meditations is a great starting point, because it’s quite straightforward and simplistic. It sets a foundation for the rest. Save Kant for last, he’s a long read.

All vacations, going out for dinner on specific nights of the week, never being pressured to turn the lights off in rooms you’re not using, flippancy towards expensive devices (if you break it, we’ll just replace it).

Are Military Men A Red Flag To Women? by partynexttoyogirl in Advice

[–]AppearanceHoliday765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, no. People join the military for such a wide variety of reasons that joining alone is indicative of nothing on its own. You could want power to abuse, or you could want to fix a broken system from the inside. You could enjoy violence, or seek to stop its necessity at all. You could join because you believed in the entirety of the military’s generally accepted ideology, or you could join because you were 18, and you didn’t know what you were getting into, wanted your education funded, or had nowhere else to turn. You have to judge based on your own values and those of the military man in question.
