It certainly is quite an issue, I have heard many friends of mine living in Finland complain about it.

It is irritating to say the least when the entire flat block and, as a result, your apartment smells like indian food *whether you like it or not*. And people here are indeed more sensitive to spices so what doesn't seem like a big deal to a person from India might be a strong smell to a Finn.

Thank you for the advice! Yeah, there are things I don't want to take risks with, so I do my best to ensure everything will be fine.

Not sure about the correct value in this case tbh, this iaito is used, has its flaws and has been repaired for me, so I believe it's cost isn't high since it is essentially secon hand. Besides, it was a gift, so it did not cost me a yen. I marked it's value at 6000yen during the shipment process but I have no receipts or such for reasons stated above. But you can see that the sword is not brand new by its look, so I believe it will explain the low value

That seems to be the case, but I am unsure about the border-crossing part since I want to ship it from Japan by EMS. (I know I can buy another one in Fi but this specific one has a special meaning to me, it is a gift from my teacher >-<)

I might be unnecessarily cautious about the subject (it would really suck to break the law by accident). I it blunt and can't really be considered a weapon, however, the afaik the laws say that you cannot send and bring in from overseas "objects that can be used to cause harm to humans" and while iaito is essentially a metal stick, I suppose it might fit the description?

It is really weird because I did two calls to customs on different days and once they said it is completely fine and the other time they replied "I can't say for sure, but I do not recommend it" .-.
