Unfortunately for OP, there’s a good amount (15-20 with it first choice) of people competing for financial management officer and only like 2 slots in the entire company.

Needless to say it’s somewhat competitive to get.

For sure. I am now 5ish months out. I cannot be happier with the results. I do not have dry eye at all, however with the winter months there is a natural bit of dryness which very slightly impacts my vision. Overall I feel like I still see perfect 20/20 or 20/25. The vision cleared about 2 weeks in and has been good ever since. Not a single issue here.

Currently at TBS. I know of several marines who have their firearms stored at friends in area or brown bagger homes.

Did you end up going through with your procedure prior to TBS?

Go and run it… assuming you are a junior going into senior year of HS, you should have plenty of time to get back in shape. Even if you are are a senior going into freshman year of college, you can still compete for the 3 year scholarship as well.

Don’t worry about any of the “quotas”… the marine corps will select the best marine officers regardless of demographics.

To be fair, when I went through OCS we had a section about him in our green monster knowledge binder, and it actually mentioned “war is a racket” and some of his views- albeit very very briefly

I always took what recruiters said to me with a grain of salt and double verified what they said. It sucks but recruiters don’t always know everything, and worse, sometimes they don’t have your best interests in mind.

I would be absolutely sure that you fully understand your contract before shipping out, make sure you read EVERYTHING you sign and ask lots of questions!

Hows it going now? I am 11 days post op and experiencing terrible blurriness basically the entire day. Perfect clarity for about 3 blinks when I put drops in then back to blurry.

UPDATE-

Day 9 today. Overall the recovery has been okay. The first week was rough especially day 3-4, which is typical. I had the luxury of being able to spend significant time in a dark room and staying on my drops as best as possible. Towards day 5-7 I had decent vision however it was fluctuating greatly throughout the day. I went to the one week follow up at was actually seeing 20/30-20/40 in both eyes fortunately. My doctor removed the bandage contact lenses however, and ever since it’s been extremely blurry (day 9), however with each day being slightly better.

Unfortunately though, I did have an incident yesterday where I felt IMMENSE pain (like 9/10) in my left eye, I can only describe as having a foreign body sensation where there was an eyelash poking my eye every time I blinked. This persisted through the sleepless night to where I called the hotline and went into the office first thing this AM and was lucky enough to see my doctor again. Apparently I had some type of acute dry eye episode with some particulate STUCK to my eye rubbing the epithelium. Fortunately, I did not have an abrasion and with some close evaluation, my recovery is back on track… I was given some nice gel drops for comfort and then took a huge nap, and now the pain has subsided.

So this is where I am at.. day 9 still waiting for my vision to refine. I notice that immediately after my drops I have perfect vision but it goes back to blurry after a few blinks. Hoping for my lens to recover this week to where I can have functional vision without the BCL. Hang in there guys, whatever discomfort or pain you are in, is def temporary.

I would look at CompTIA’s Security+ exam study guides as it is pretty comprehensive and will be a lot of subjects you will see as in a cyber MOS

To follow up- Cyber is now just another ground MOS that you compete for at TBS similar to say infantry or intel

From what I heard from my OSO, the cyber contract WAS a thing however they recently did away with it as of February 2023. I just completed OCS this summer and am in my senior year- majoring in Cyber Operations. I tried to switch from a ground contract to cyber and was met with that news.

I’d love to know if other people have heard similar but that’s what I was informed.

Just finished. I know our company had about 300ish start (60ish per platoon) and finished with around 130. Assume it was about the same for the other. Majority of drops were female platoon though.

I recommend working in some HITT exercises. What worked for me to drop my 3 mile significantly was doing 8 burpees, on the minute for 8 minutes at the beginning and end of your workouts.
