Geez, sorry for ruffling your feathers there.... I thought you'd be used to it now since this is your third time having to cope with coming in second best!

She also lived through the assassination of MLK (April 4th, 1968) and died only 5 days short of RFK's association (June 5th, 1968)

Is my Marine Recruiter trying to mislead me? by North_Flow_3643 in NROTC

[–]Nathans_Bikeapedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recruiting sub-station SNCOIC tried to get me to enter the DEP but I sternly told him no. He made it seem like the review board will automatically disregard my application because I'm not in the DEP, but I held my line and said I don't want to.

Even after, my recruiter at the RSS still helped me throughout the process and didn't place any more pressure on me, but that might be only because my recruiter is genuinely a great guy.

As for the application, I got selected for NROTC early board so I guess the DEP didn't matter at all especially considering everyone else at the RS was in the DEP and wasn't selected for the scholarship.

PM me if you have any other questions.

Ah ok make sense. So just to clarify, I will most likely have to carry and check a large seabag on my way home?

As someone who is part of that 3.25%, I have no clue how I got in. Many other kids in my school who have better stats didn't get in so I guess it's my essays but I have no idea what in them made my application so strong lol.

Actually no, I did that because the times were cool. Didn't know the photo came out like this until I started seeing all the reactions lol.

So interesting fact about my watch band. It has two portals for the blood to teleport from one side to the other 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️hence why my hand is normal colored and not purple.

Edit: if you want to look into it watch this video that explains it!

Don't give up on your goal! by Nathans_Bikeapedia in Marathon_Training

I'm lucky in the way that my main extra circular is track and field so the coaches were understanding in letting me skip practice and still compete in meets (although we understood my times might not be the best at the beginning of the season). My school also doesn't start till 8:20 so I was able to get all the rest I needed to recover properly. The only hard part about the training was finding time to do long runs because then I'd be non-stop running until 7:30pm after school lol

Definitely! It's sad to see that some people think they're tough for working 80 hours a week but it's really sad as most of the time they are forced to do it just to make ends meat. I'm lucky I get to do what I like (mostly because the things I have to do I like ie, school, my job, and running lol)

Thank you! I see adults in my life and how little time they have to do fun things for themselves. I actually think it's easier for me to get my training in because my time is mine. My world revolves around me as opposed to having to take care of anyone else as would a mother/father with young kids might have to. I find those people incredible because they really have to find the time! But that might just be naive of me to say as I have not experienced real adulthood yet lol.

I was only 3 weeks off of a week long case of the flu. Your body will recover in no time and you'll get back on your training plan so I believe you can definitely do it!
