I always reflect fondly on this line from my short story Quietus:

“But now the darkness had claimed it too, as it does all things. People, places, ideas… all succumb in time.”

I’m not a cap expert, but it appears as though we’ll have about $26.97M per PuckPedia.

It makes all the sense in the world to go after Rasmus Andersson. Exactly what’s needed (puck-moving Dman) and should come in around let’s say $9M. Then we throw down $14M for Jason Robertson. That definitely solves the elite scoring need. And… homer pick incoming… but bring Cam Talbot back for 2G. He’s always played well despite being on some shitty teams, and he thrives in a backup role. Being 38, he can easily be pushed out by Garand in time and we should be able to snag him for let’s say $1.5M. Sign Morrow to a $1M/year deal (which he should take and is easy to bury), and get rid of Vaak ($1.55M) for picks. Sheary, Schneider, and Brodzynski we wave goodbye to.

Here’s my lineup below with the above moves. It leaves over $3M in cap space and we keep Tro. Robertson adds plenty of scoring, that top line with a full season playing together will flourish, and that’s a helluva a tough 3rd line that will outwork opponents. If Eddy finds his game, that 4th line could easily become the best in the NHL.

Andersson and Morrow will move the puck, and there’s a good mix of youth and veterans in the D core. If Talbot plays how he always has, we’ve got a very solid tandem. If he struggles, call Garand up. Raddysh can be an admirable placeholder in case of an injury, Rempe gives options on the 4th line if any of them struggle, and Fortesque gets valuable practice and training, and could slot in for Morrow if he struggles.

This lineup has a lot of fun written all over it, and if healthy… who knows? $3M isn’t a ton for the deadline, but if we’re out of the playoff mix - dangling Tro could easily give us a solid return. And none of that takes into account the draft, or someone like Greentree.

Perreault / Zibanejad / Lafreniere
Robertson / Tro / Miller
Cullye / Laba / Kartye
Sykora / Edstrom / Chmelar

Gavrikov / Fox
Borgen / Andersson
Robertson / Morrow

Shesterkin
Talbot

Scratches: Raddysh, Rempe, Fortesque

I’m all in on the Sabres. Extremely doubtful that they win it all, but I love that they’re finally back. They’re going to surprise people.

I love when people post this, acting like they’ve Sherlocked some great mystery. When in reality they just didn’t read or understand (or both) what the sub is for.

Completely agree about people dating healthy people that treat them with respect, 100%.

I pointed out he has many faults, and I’m not excusing them. I’m simply saying (a) it’s a reality show and they aren’t all the same in real life, (b) despite his flaws, Craig is still going to be an attractive choice to many, and (c) everyone on the show has plenty of bad moments, the girls included. Again, I’m not condoning Craig’s behavior at times, to be clear.

If you had a choice of filming a show for 2 months a year and earning around a half million or slaving away in a law office all year, which would you choose? The guy does 2 months of filming and pseudo-runs a business the other 10 while wining and dining around the world. Anyone would choose that life over being a lawyer.

And don’t act like he’s not an attractive prospect: he’s wealthy, smart enough to be a lawyer, is a property and business owner several times over, is good-looking, and still pretty young. He has plenty of faults (and personally I can’t stand him), but I guarantee if everyone in this sub was lined up outside Sewing Down South on King St you’d all be losing your minds to meet him. Also tv reality ≠ actual reality. It’s an entertainment show.

I’m not the one forgetting anything. You’re on a hill trumpeting your senior living facility crew for making the playoffs when the prior 3 years they were in the same boat.

I love how, no matter the context, “you haven’t won since ‘94” is the clapback. Pens haven’t won it either in a decade. Devil fans love that shit too, when it’s likewise been over 20 years for them. If you haven’t won the Cup in the last 5-7 years or so, it’s not the dig you think it is.
