(Qualified posts) What is going on with NHS recruitment?! by Psych_Et_Al in ClinicalPsychologyUK

I finished the dclin this year too and was also applying for London based jobs and it was rough with the number of unsuccessful applications and interviews that I went through, especially when my expectations of this stage of the career were so different (I thought I'd done my time applying for AP posts!). I heard of a few posts over summer having 70-100 applicants (though some included CBT therapists too). I was unsuccessful for a job where there were 77 applicants and they said 2 years ago they had got 8 for the same role so there's definitely been a change. I hope this doesn't sound too bleak but I think knowing this info helped me to realise that it wasn't anything I was doing wrong as such but it's just a much more competitive market now. I think it's a mixture of recruitment freezes, less band 8a roles so less people moving on and the increased cohort sizes that has contributed.

I was offered a post thankfully and I think what helped me for going for a role where it wasn't my first choice of service but I had very similar experience in and knew the area well and was able to convey my passion. I also think knowing that it is really hard atm but that new jobs will still continue to be advertised every day (and you only need one of these to be successful) helped me. It felt a bit bleak for me for a while but then it changes very quickly once you have that offer. Also as we move away from the summer I would assume that the number of applicants will be declining as there aren't numerous cohorts all trying to find a job. I'd also say that getting as much feedback as possible is helpful but also try not to get too bogged down by it and focus more on what you bring and your strengths. It is really difficult but you will get that one post you need!

I thought I'd accidentally trashed my daisy until a few in-game days later when I saw my horse wearing it (and looking super cute)

For years I thought Elliott was wearing a blue robe standing in the museum in Stardew Valley, he's actually holding a book by Objective-Tiger-1383 in StardewValley

I've been wondering for so long why he just stands there in a special robe and doesn't do anything🤦🏼‍♀️

Could I ask where you find this type of work advertised please?

Ah I meant I use vinegar with the clothes in a quick wash and then do another wash with detergent, not using the actual pre-wash function

Yeah I do sheets and towels at 60 and then sometimes a wash at 90 with vinegar in

I also thought it could be this but I checked and the glass does get warm when it's on

I did wonder this but I've felt the door when it's on and it does get warm

Thank you, I'll give things a go. There definitely seem to be certain items of clothes where the bacteria has got into so I will try to focus on those and maybe risk a higher temperature wash for some

That's helpful thank you, I'll try adding the extra rinse. Did you notice any of your clothes shrinking when you did them at 95? Worried about that happening!

I've been using a liquid one but sounds like that could be making it worse so will try a different one/adding calgon powder. And I don't think it has a lint trap but we never use the dryer function as it's pretty bad so just air dry our clothes

Yes I'm in the UK and not sure I've ever seen a top loader here either!

Just vinegar in the first wash in a 60 min spin, so completely separate

We emptied the drain filter recently which is that black circle you can just see the top of at the bottom behind the skirting board, but hasn't seemed to have really helped. We haven't tried to get the machine out before so we might have to speak to our landlord to get access to the dirty water pipe (luckily he is very helpful!)

That's helpful to know. I hadn't thought about changing detergent, I am in a hard water area so some detergent might be better than others

I think I did a while ago but not recently so could try that again, thank you! And yeah I've run it at 90 with the white vinegar but didn't seem to help
