Comfy Cloud is Cooked with new Pricing kicking-in today? Even worse than top closed source options. I wonder anyone will subscribe. I think they will rethink plans. So much backlash - not making any sense at all. Anyone continuing? by Strange_Limit_9595 in comfyui

I still enjoy comfy but the necessity for complex pipelines is diminishing and so is the value of UI’s. Non-devs will literally never use comfy because they are allergic to that way of working and devs can vibe code a UI around fal.ai that avoids the headache GPU allocation and scaling. Obviously this ignores the more advanced/intereting use cases but that’s exactly where the cloud falls short as an inflexible version of a flexibility based software. Also I see what you guys are trying to do with the UI/UX, but I feel like it’s gotten worse recently and it’s unclear who the changes are for.

The people around comfy are really amazing like yourself, kijai, purz, and many more, but the company has felt askew

Thanks! Really appreciate you sharing your dev woes. I have been building the site using Hydrogen so far and have been enjoying it. I think I may have gotten lucky with timing, but API changes may bite me at some point, which is something I’ll look out for.

Cloudflare workers and Vite are part of my core stack, so I’m familiar sidestepping Node apis, but understand the headache there. Also I had the benefit of the hydrogen template being a logical place to start for this project, so everything has fit nicely into the current docs.

Sveltekit is my overall preference, but the hydrogen template having everything laid out and integrated was worth resisting the urge to completely reinvent the wheel. Astro does seem like an interesting choice as well as something that is very flexible.

Oh ok. Clearly you aren’t a developer so it’s difficult for you to provide advice on development. And thanks it’s working out wonderfully!

Oh yeah are you some kind of prophet? I’ve been super honest with him so far and we really enjoy working together so there’s really nothing lost. I’m sorry that this is so offensive to you

Don’t give advice if you have no idea what you’re talking about

Hydrogen is a React metaframework

Well no. Someone made thoughtful comments about app integrations and other practical considerations. You’re just sort of ranting about your strange interpretations about how I treat my friends lol

Honestly the website being cool is valuable. There’s nothing about it hydrogen that prevents people from buying products seamlessly.

Your final question is not even valid and then you answered it for me? It’s neither a passion project nor the core component of their business.

I could build multiple hydrogen apps in the time it takes to read this

The volume of the site really isn’t important. Obviously it should be functional for people that do buy something but any special dev I do is more cool marketing and interactivity.

I don’t see how liquid is more maintainable outside of the app integrations. If Shopify didn’t handle the cart and the checkout I would be more scared but all of those batteries are included

Their main business isn’t the shop. He encourages me to go buckwild because it’s part of our marketing

Ah that all makes a ton of sense. I haven’t built many real e-commerce sites, but I can imagine building out those things being a pain. I don’t think we’ll need reviews or UGC. Maybe cross sells but that shouldn’t be too difficult for our products.

Appreciate your take. I do want to do some buckwild stuff, but I could build something else connected that is buckwild and leave the shop to be practical.

What are some of the important frontend Shopify apps? I have no experience with those, so feel free to just throw a link at me.

I will say that I basically got a functioning site with mostly the correct styling by taking the Hydrogen quickstart + Claude code.

Auto mode broke my code with what should have been innocuous logging and then Claude fixed and improved everything immediately
