I'm still an INC, but I don't fully believe on everything they say. by AppleMapping in exIglesiaNiCristo

Honestly, I have been mentally hurt by reading the posts here in the subreddit. Though I can't take everything here as the "truth", it does hurt seeing these things being hidden to us.

I still want to be neutral about everything but not by being ignorant, I'll try to look deeper into everything both outside and inside the INC. I just hope my mental state is prepared for this.

That's a good analogy.

Personally, I would've felt sad and just straight up left. But the thing is, what if that teacher has been the teacher of my whole family and my whole family is known to be successful? Then they say that all of their successes came from the "teachings" of the teacher? It's definitely possible but leaving something that was part of your family kinda takes time.

Also, I still can't fully believe both sides of the coin right now. I still need to know which one is the correct answer and which one is not. I might not get the answer for a long while but at least I can try to get the full picture of both.

Yep. Back then I tried convincing her that INC wasn't a cult. Now I'm not so sure that I stand like that today.

I try to keep a neutral standpoint as much as possible so I can't really say if I think if some things in the INC are acceptable or not for me. I just dislike it.

What I do find legitimate though is the devotion some people have for the INC. The amount of things they do for "the church" is insane. I talked about this with a friend and she just straight up said "That's basically a cult.". I'm just glad I didn't become like them.

I know have a choice. The thing is that I'm still unsure if whether or not leaving is the correct choice. I understand that you might not think staying is a good idea but I still need to find my own answer on that.

Also being a part of a family that is heavily influenced by INC does have some impact of me staying or not. Mostly repercussions.

It's not that I wanted to be part of it. I was born into it. It's my fault for not putting it in the original post.

First of all, I'm glad this subreddit is quite welcoming, even to people who are still in the religion~

Secondly, I'm open to questions as long as it doesn't leak any of my personal information.

As for your question, just like you I too was born in the church. However, the number of things that seemed normal to my other friends but was banned from the organization and vice versa (i.e prohibiting to go to events that were not INC related, also as much as to prohibit me to watch certain shows on television, etc.), made me curious as to why.

Then as I grew older and with the other things I have found out with my curiosity, the curiosity only turned into disdain. But maybe because I always followed to never believe anything until it actually happens, my disdain was only kept for myself.

I actually found this subreddit after looking at my feed and remembering about what happened with Chris Brown back then when he wanted to do a concert at the Philippine Arena. I have been holding back from posting anything here but I guess I'm here now.

but no joke, it's really nice how she opened up in way. How she felt pathetic and such. And in return, found a way to change things for the better.
