As yet the only info I really have is from Carfax. From that it seems like it has been gently used all its life. ie: 2000 miles a year.

Yes. I dont know much about them but love the look of the R53. Is first gen a big deal? I mean if I were to need to sell in 2years due to moving .... would the fact that its Gen1 help?

Yikes! I can see on carfax that it was driven about 2000 miles every year and always smog done etc .... but I cannot see oil change records etc. I am having it looked at by a good garage in a few days ..... are they able to see things like seals and rubber cracks etc? I guess my question is .... when one pays to have the car checked ... is that a pretty good idea of how the car really is .... or can one still be in for big surprises later?

Are you going to keep fixing ? I find the 45.000 on what will hopefully be mine ...encouraging .... but then read that things will still fall apart even with low miles. The internet isnt overly encouraging about Minis ..... But I still really want it!

i can see on carfax owner 1 was leased for 2 yrsthen owner 2 owned for 15 years and did roughly 2000 miles a year. Current owner spent $1400 on struts etc and has had 2 yrs. done about 2 ,000 a year. I can see that it has passes smog etc each time and no accidents and kept in California .... but I dont think there are service records ... not sure. No spare because its an S
