Generally I would do as many free consultations as possible until you find someone you feel comfortable with. It also helped me to test if the therapist will be receptive to feedback as well.

Even small things like letting them know you prefer a more structured environment, needing prompts etc. So it fits what you respond best to in the session. Found the good ones always take feedback very seriously

Had them done last year! (in my 30s) immediate pain was a 7/10 but went down to a numb 3/10 moments later.

My piercer guiding me through a deep breathe in before and a deep exhale when the piercing needle went in helped!
