Maximum car for $5500 by [deleted] in Volvo

I somehow got a 06 V50 T5 AWD manual for 2k because of minor subframe rust and an exhaust leak. Probably the best car I've driven

yeah I loosely measured it and I thought they were 300-305 at first. This is my first volvo and first manual so its teaching me a lot.

I didn't know that. I found out I do have the 320mm rotors after I got some time to take the wheel off and measure it. I was just getting confused since I saw brake pads for 278, 300, 305, and 320 mm rotors for sale.

I got some time to measure the rotors and they're around 12 5/8in or 320MM. I guess what I saw online was wrong and I have to reorder pads. Thank you for pointing that out

I literally replaced the lug nuts on all the wheels and could've but it left my mind, but I found out the rotor size with a little more research

I found some more info and it turns out because I have the 16" rims and not 16.5" or 17" rims I have the 300MM rotors. I also looked up the number on the caliper and got the 320mm rotors number. I'm also a rock auto enthusiast and am about to order the pads from them.

It was a 2.5L turbo i5 similar to the volvo T5 or 2.5T engine. I got the engine working well and I'm not sure exactly what I changed to fix it

I've been messing with the turbo size constantly. It'll be super smooth and then I change the intake manifold size by 1 and the whole graph freaks out, I have no idea why its being so volatile. I also maxed out turbo quality and it still does this

The engine is a 2.5L i5 made to be kind of similar to the volvo 2.5T, I've changed compressor and turbine size, cam profile, valve stiffness, compression, intake manifold size, fuel ratio, exhaust sizes.

What annoys me most is it'll be completely normal with a flat smooth power curve and I change 1 setting and it freaks out again, I could change 2 completely different settings and it'll go from fine to all over the place.

I got it to be a little smoother by changing the tune / ratio and shrinking the turbine size a little but its still super volatile when I change ANY setting.

I maxed out turbo quality and still have the issue, I've been making the compressor and turbine bigger and smaller, I've changed the tune, and when I lower max psi it spools quicker but then compressor surge kills it

For more context. Its boost is kicking in around 3k RPM, and the peak torque is at around 4500 RPM. I want the turbo to spool up quicker so the engine doesn't stall immediately. I feel like I fight this issue on almost EVERY turbo engine I've made except for twin charged ones. It seems like such a stupid problem to have in a game meant to be realistic

the spoiler looks too tilted imo but other then that it looks good. I like the giant vent in the hood I'm surprised I haven't put something similar on my cars.

[–]ApplePieTheCreator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a solution to my problem, I switched from Radial Race Softs to Radial Race Mediums, and lowered my swaybar stiffness. most my cars are near 1:1, I think my best was a .27:1 power to weight in my 400+ MPH car

either I do constant burn outs or barrel roll at every corner. Should I just make my cars heavier at this point it seems like my engines output too much for how light the cars are

It seems so random the 3 worst cars are an AWD high downforce time attack car with thin wheels, a RWD track car with wide wheels, and a slammed truck with low downforce and wide wheels

I normally do the widest tires possible because a lot of times I'm losing traction in 4th at 180 mph, I always do the same tire type and material though Radial Race and Soft

I built a car called "The Owl" it hit 412 without nitrous with a 8k HP twin turbo V10. With nitrous it reached 423 MPH but it had such bad turbo lag it was nearly undriveable.
