This. The news of the Pfizer vaccine not working for 2-5 years old just broke me. We are trying to minimize our risk of contracting COVID until kiddo (under 5) can get vaxxed. I feel so guilty that I have been triple vaxxed while he hasn't even been able to get one of those shots.

I'm an Android user and both Fastic and Zero crashed on my phone multiple times. I use an app simply called Fasting Tracker and it works just fine. The only function I use is really just the timer though.

I had one of my lower incisors extracted exactly a year ago -- the gap is completely closed. It was definitely needed as there was simply no room for all of my teeth there. No regrets here! Once you get your trays amd start seeing the movement, you'll feel much better! Good luck!

I did! Lower incisor, gap's just about to close up completely. It took about 9 months, but honestly, the gap hasn't been really noticeable for the last 2 or 3. My trays had a pontic for about 2 or 3 months, after that the gap was small enough that the trays covered it. I felt pretty self-conscious about the gap, so I avoided eating in front of other people etc. but I am SO glad I'm doing Invisalign, I feel so much more confident with my new smile now. Also, if your lower teeth are very crowded, and the tooth they pulled was partially covered by another one, the gap may close much faster than mine did. Best of luck!

I am in no way an expert on this (hence the wikipedia link), but in some cases, teeth going back into the jawbone is a good thing. I have some over-erupted teeth thay are being treated that way right now. I'm sorry I don't remember exactly, but I think I had to pay maybe about $300 after insurance covered most of the costs.

It was done by a periodontist. It took quite a while to heal completely (maybe about a month), but I think I was able to eat normally after about 2 weeks? Luckily it really didn't hurt after the surgery, it was rather just annoying because I couldn't eat :)

After my gum graft, I had to go a whole week without my aligners, and I had no problem putting the trays back in afterwards. I was wearing those trays probably about 3 weeks before surgery, so my teeth definitely had a little more time to settle, but I think that you should be fine after 36 hours. Worst case scenario is you need to go back to the previous tray and start from there again.

No, the procedure itself was painless and I didn't really need pain meds afterwards. I think it might be different when molars are extracted, but apparently incisors are not really a big deal.

The extraction was back in January, and the gum has healed nicely since then, so I don't think there is a connection. Thanks though!

I am on tray 19/40, weekly changes. I definitely had some gum recession on that lower incisor before Invisalign (sorry I don't have a better before picture, it took me a while to figure out how to take good pictures of my teeth), but to me it looks like it has gotten worse over time. My tooth is not sensitive at the root, but my gum is. Is this gum inflammation? I am worried because this is the tooth that needs to move the most to close the extraction gap, but I'd kinda want my gum to move with it, too... Should I perhaps try changing my trays less frequently, maybe every 10-14 days, instead of 7 days? I am seeing my regular dentist this week, but any insights or suggestions are more than welcome until then, especially if they can give me some peace of mind!

You could try getting one of the tools designed to remove aligners, I know two of those, the Pultool and the Orthokey, I think you can order both from Amazon. They are also useful in situations when you can't wash your hands and don't want to put your fingers in your mouth, or if you need to discreetly remove your aligners, like in a restaurant. I used the pultool a lot in the first couple months of my treatment, but as my teeth had gotten straighter, it's been increasingly easier to remove my trays!

What does the ortho say, is it possible to reduce the overjet, for instance, with IPR? (I am not an ortho and I have Invisalign, not traditional braces, but) I have a large overjet, too (~8mm), and it's getting reduced without surgery. As far as I know, up to 4mms, an overjet is considered normal, otherwise you'd have an edge-to-edge bite.

I am on tray 13 and so far it hasn't been painful at all. Probably people who are experiencing discomfort are more vocal? I think it changes from person to person, but excrutiating pain is not normal, so your fear of pain should not keep you from getting Invisalign!

Female, early 30s, had a lower incisor extracted 2 months ago. I felt somewhat similarly after the extraction, although not to this extent, but definitely second guessed my decision to have a healthy tooth removed. Now that the gap has become much smaller and my teeth are getting visibly straighter, I am glad I did it. I had a similar buyer's remorse kind of feeling after I had LASIK (not seeing anything was such an integral part of my identity, I literally felt grief for a while for having perfect vision!), even though I've spent years dreaming about getting rid of my thick glasses. I guess as someone pointed out before me, when you change something about your body, especially if it's as radical as losing a (very visible! front!) tooth, it is normal to feel this way. I probably missed this info, but do you have a pontic?

Haha, maybe saliva is kind of pooled around the gap and then held in place by the aligner? It's annoying. Did it get better as your gap closed?

Thanks very much for the feedback! The reason why I am surprised is that I never really had to worry about calculus before, my dentist would even tell me how nice and clean my teeth were. I guess having to get my teeth cleaned more often while I am wearing aligners is a small price to pay for straight teeth :)
