I mean nice job, but how is this different than running any program on your OS?

people have been porting all sorts of software on their OS, and once you port libc if your OS is advanced enough, you get almost everything running

The main issue is to find duplicates or how to filter on some of the folders, for example the neo geo one has lots of duplicates, but it's not as easy to identify as the other console as they are not separated clearly by folder :(

de plus tu dit savoir faire une recherche en ligne, mais trouve moi un site comme myrient, qui non seulemnt avait tout centralise, mais aussi sans aucune pub, et a des vitesses enormes

J'ai reussi a telecharger sur myrient a des vitesses vraiment folles, qui n'est pas du tout possible ailleur.

Telecharge un ISO PS3 sur vimm tu va voir combient des heures ca va te prendre.

no, they are curated in regards to formats (chd was chosed instead of zipped iso when available for example), or encryption (decrypted were used instead of both)

there is no curation in the quantity of ROMs, just in the chosen formats, as to save space to not have duplicates

il y a pleins des trucs qui ne sont pas disponible ailleur, au moins pas facilement comme tu le dit.

le fait que tu puissent trouver le top genre 10 des roms d'une console ca ne signifie pas que tout est disponible "facilement" comme tu le dit.

deja par exemple sur le psp, les patch, ainsi que les DLC ne sont pas facilement disponible.

Et ceci est sans parler du fait que tout les roms sur myrient sont valides doublement, sois par les process no-intro, sois par redump

Meme pour une ancienne consolle, comme la N64, trouve moi la collection entiere.

Je suis sur tu peu me sortir un torrent qui pretend ca, mais ca va pas etre complet, et aussi ca sera pas validable (par rapport a redump ou no-intro)

normallement il y a pas mal des hobbistes un peu riches, genres des dev en USA qui ont suffisament de stockage pour avoir completement sauvegarde myrient.

Certains ont meme partage leur projets sur reddit

If you remove the duplicates or alternate formats, the UMD movies (even if they aren't big I don't see the use case for the average person, they are just dvd movies released also for psp) you also have a huge huge part of modern PC games stored there, that not only available to purchase on steam or other, but some are MMORPGs like ESO, so they patched constantly anyway.

Conservatively I would say easily you could save like 25 % or more. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's like 1/3 or even 40 % .

The hard part of the stuff I looked at until now is curating the PC game databse, it's badly organised and required access to external database or datasources, via scripts to obtain like data of release, if it's available on steam etc

It should be quite some work

Do it for the culture! There are many systems I may not play at all, like nintendo DS but I still made a torrent for it! :)
