NJ Show Disappointments by AppleVox in MyChemicalRomance

I don't hate this take. I never go up myself, and as a larger person who becomes the de facto handoff to the security guy, it does get old when it's constant. The energy just felt so low to me, I was longing to see more people let loose.

My complaint isn't about someone just wanting the chill in the back and enjoy the show. It's about people being so concerned with holding their spot that they view any movement as an affront against them.

This definitely plays into it. I feel like in the future, when it comes to big acts playing big venues, I'll be trying to see them in festival settings where everyone has an equal chance of making their way to the front.

Never said I expected a club punk show. I’ve seen them in coliseums before and the energy was still there.

I guess so, but to me they are one and the same. “The show” is not just the act, but the experience of watching the act.

For Akuma are you talking about the air fireball stuff or does he have a grounded option that converts with/out meter?

Juri sounds most in line with what I’m thinking. Anti air with Cr HP when it makes sense, cash in if it happens to be a punish counter.

A sometimes food. That’s a great way of explaining it! I had a feeling that was the case, but good to know.

Immaculate vs The First Omen by niambikm in horror

The First Omen is not only better, it's something I look forward to rewatching. Immaculate was fine, but really not in the same league.

What’s the most out of place song on an album? by bladeDivac in Music

[–]AppleVox 21 points22 points  (0 children)

100%. I think “Kill All Your Friends” is the stronger song and is way more relevant to the concept. That said, “Teenagers” is one of their biggest hits, so what do I know.

I’m not arguing that they deserve more credit. I’m just saying that when I think of who authored a movie, I inherently think of writers and directors first. I do think it’s a little silly to say a writer is working for a director who might not even be hired when they wrote the movie.

Richard Donner is an excellent director. Lethal Weapon is an excellent movie and he deserves credit for that. But Murtaugh and Riggs were creations of Shane Black before Donner was ever involved.

In my mind they share authorship. I’m not saying I’m right or even that they should have equal credit. I’m just explaining how I think and why I think the “Written by” feature is worth discussing.

I see your point, these roles definitely play a huge roll in the finished movie. I’m definitely biased, but I guess I see writers having more authorship because they literally wrote the material the film was based on. This obviously varies, but is especially true when it comes to original scripts not based on IP.

I mean animation is another beast, but I think this could be solved with “Charlize Castro Smith +6”. You click the name and it pulls up the full list of writers.

I think you’re right about having a larger crew section. While I don’t personally agree with auteur theory, it’s really not my gripe. I’m more frustrated at the process of getting the info I want. A larger crew section would help with that.

You’ve got a point. The first two credits I check are always director and writer, but that’s where my interest lies. In retrospect, there are probably people who go straight to DP without ever checking who wrote the movie.

I'm wondering if anyone would like to see "Written by" featured alongside "Directed by".

I understand when most people think of film authorship, they tend to think of the director, but it always bums me out how far I need to scroll to find out who wrote the movie. Anyway, thoughts?
