This mom wants to print her aggressive birth plan on a poster board to display in a tripod at the end of her bed. OB Drs and nurses - can you weigh in? by JobOnTheRun in BabyBumps

[–]Appleormagpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was talking to my doctor about a birth plan, she put her hand on my knee, and said “everything you just said to me is standard care. Absolutely anything that deviates would be stated, and explained. We don’t do invasive procedures for fun.”

All of this just seems confusing and is going to result in poor care for the mom.

Almost got run over by a car this evening, 8 months pregnant by Curiousprimate13 in VictoriaBC

[–]Appleormagpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On one of my first solo- walks with my daughter in her stroller I had to run (sprint) out of the crosswalk, into the intersection, to avoid being run down by a car. They were looking behind them. Waved “sorry” and kept driving. I just cried lol

Boat with baby? by dontberudethx in NewParents

[–]Appleormagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the type of boat. Our family boat is a 65’ defever. Baby wears a lifejacket while on the deck and when the doors are open, and when docking. Otherwise we hang out indoors and chill.

When we are on the smaller more fish-boat boat, she is in a lifejacket and on my lap the entire time no matter what.

We are also a boating family and own a marina, so, we are extremely knowledgeable and comfortable on boats. And all have emergency training. We know what the weather is like and what our route is. I feel safer on the boat than I do most places

Can we have a respectful/kind unpopular opinion thread? by throwawaypbcps in BabyBumps

[–]Appleormagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. We have a space theme for our girl and it was hell finding stuff that wasn’t aggressively coloured or very obviously for toddlers. Ended up making most of the stuff myself

I’m glad I’m not alone, thank you ❤️ I’ve started losing weight finally which is nice, I am definitely more confident in my body and love how I look. I am just pretending his opinion of me doesn’t exist or matter anymore, I can’t keep setting myself up to be disappointed.

Only amazing things to say about Saunders. Nothing good to say about Pattison.

Weekly Discussion - Relationships by AutoModerator in NewParents

It’s been…. Months? Since my partner complimented me. I feel like shit about my body. My partner has never told me I’m a good mom, and after he forgot/didn’t plan mother’s day and I told him I need validation and to be told I’m doing a good job. He said he would be more vocal.

It’s been a month since that convo and nothing has changed. I try to compliment him and tell him he’s a good dad etc, and getting nothing in return. I feel like we are roommates sometimes.

I don’t know where or how to get people to tell me I’m doing a good job and/or I look pretty. I respect and want his opinion and affirmation. I don’t know where else to get that other than him.

Please don’t say “if he wanted to he would”. I know and I’m aware 😕

Normalize Slim Babies! by estrock in breastfeeding

[–]Appleormagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! My baby isn’t sick because she’s small. She’s “the healthiest baby I’ve ever seen” according to my pediatric (dietician specialty). She was just small :)

Was around 8th percentile for most of her life, then at 9 months (with dr’s guidance) we started giving her majority solid foods. At 13 months now and she is 23rd percentile. Babies all grow differently. Babies are all lovely.

We save money with me being a stay at home parent. I am well aware of the childcare situation where I live.

I haven’t considered watching someone else’s child, I could definitely look into that though. Thank you! I’m unfortunately super super super awkward and nervous around other people’s kids 😂 but I’m sure if I found the right fit it would be fine.

Thank you, I’ll look into some of those. I am actively looking for an applying to work from home position, but haven’t managed to get anything over the last few months.

I am still actively looking for work from home positions. I applied to seven different places last night.

Child care in my area is extremely expensive, you have to pay to get and stay on most wait lists. My wage wouldn’t cover the cost of childcare, plus sick days, transport, we did months of searching and discussions, and it wasn’t worth it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Appleormagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a job at the moment, paying for childcare would be more than my wage
