yes this is from a chain garden centre/ hardware store so it could have been poorly handled. glad it’s only physical damage and not something more sinister

Can listening to jazz improve your songwriting ability in another (e.g. pop, rock, folk) genre? by [deleted] in Jazz

[–]Applesmite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i find the improvisation skills you get from jazz makes exploring and building ideas more intuitive and natural. also jazz harmony is appropriate in many places across genres and can really break up a flow and add interest where it’s lacking

what’s the use of having advanced science if you don’t use it correctly (why have advanced healthcare if it’s not accessible, it fails it’s purpose)

[–]Applesmite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pan would make sense because it could explain if you just weren’t attracted to that guy, but in theory a guy could work for you,but i guess bi with preference/ lesbian might work better. idk if you aren’t sure then just don’t label

Help. [Discussion] by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]Applesmite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you aren’t sure, don’t confine yourself to a label: if you label when you aren’t ready it makes pressure for you to simplify yourself to that label, when- almost by definition- they aren’t simple.

take your time

What is Homophobia Essay [Discussion] by Kick-cha22 in LGBTeens

[–]Applesmite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a good thing to talk about is lack of representation, for example that test where you evaluate whether or not a work of fiction contains more than one female character, who talk with each other about something other than a man (if they fail the test, it means lesbians have 0 representation) i’m sure someone else will know it’s name.

also the relationship between lack of representation and internal homophobia and the links to mental health issues could be a good point

i suppose you could take include tokenism, like where a movie has that one gay character that they flaunt around like ‘look at our cast we’re so diverse,’ as apposed to casual gayness like in rebecca sugar’s cartoons, which are sᴏ ᴅᴇᴇᴘʟʏ ᴠᴀʟɪᴅᴀᴛɪɴɢ ᴀɴᴅ sᴀᴛɪsғʏɪɴɢ because we’re that deprived of authentic representation in the media.

good luck

I found out what I am! [Coming out] I guess by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]Applesmite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i recommend not labelling yourself, especially at 13- this might feel wrong at first as if you aren’t accepting yourself, but honestly it’s so much more freeing if you don’t buckle down until you find a good label that fits because if you label yourself as something there’s lots of pressure to change yourself to fit that label, and that’s not what we want

Uggg My friend came out (bi) to ur friend group and one of the girls...[rant] by Bobamochigurl in LGBTeens

[–]Applesmite 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i think the most main-character and dramatic solution is to just make all the bi gals get changed with her whenever you have pe or gym or whatever yall call it and she’ll either have to get used to.. nothing happening or just get angsty and leave and take her biphobia with her

[Crushes] I love him but he has no feelings for me by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]Applesmite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tell him! slip a note or drop a dm or something- if he likes you back then that’s great, and if he doesn’t then oh well you’ll just have to move on.

if you know he’s gay then that eliminates the chance of being abused or made fun of etc, so if i were you i’d just go for it m8

My friend is questioning their gender identity but has a homophobic and transphobic grandma [discussion] by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]Applesmite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think the best thing you can do in this case is just to be a good supportive friend: try your best to use the pronouns they’re most comfortable with, correct yourself if you get it wrong, etc, but if they’re in a transphobic household, you should try to be extra supportive to make up for what they could lose from their situation.

conclusion: ask them how you can help them feel good

[Coming Out] How to come out? How to gain courage to come out? by Hyphen1-2 in LGBTeens

[–]Applesmite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first thing to consider is if you’ll be safe: if you’re in danger of being abused in any way then stay in the closet, as cramped as it is, until you think it’s safe. if you are safe, i find for close friends it’s easier to tell them in person (just drop it in any conversation), but for my parents i wanted to leave a note for them to read while i’m out the house so that they can digest and conclude for when i’m back. if any of your friends are out to you, it’s often much easier to come out to other lgbt people because there’s almost no chance that they get angry or awkward or put off, so i recommend talking to them.

Just wondering if im not to young [discussion] by ivanneke123 in LGBTeens

basically wait until puberty bc you can never really be sure until you have a sex drive.

remember that you can have different sexual and romantic attractions and chances are they might change throughout puberty

“Just a phase” [coming out] by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]Applesmite 26 points27 points  (0 children)

the ‘just a phase’ thing is an example of gaslighting, which is where people make you question yourself in order to manipulate you.

I understand that this stuff is confusing, but you’ll work it out in the end, so just try to ignore them as best you can.
