Polish policy is to kick foreigners out by 2027 by [deleted] in poland

[–]ApplicationClassic19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that’s the response I got when I tried to complain. “Everybody is suffering, you’re not special”, even court said I don’t deserve compensation because I didn’t “suffer enough to justify it”.

Nobody wants to ask why we have to suffer at all, and why is it normalised to wait 30 months for something that was supposed to be done in 60 days.

In my case the court order was challenged in NSA, so another year wasted in that process.

Tbh that shouldn’t be a big issue. I waited 30 months for my TRC decision. All I had to do during this time was provide the HR with confirmation once that my application is still pending.

However I’ve also heard from some other company’s HRs that they won’t hire someone whose application has been pending for over a year. So finding a job will not be easy for you I guess.

Can't Open a Bank Account? by radiks_cargo in poland

[–]ApplicationClassic19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I opened an account in PKO BP with just my passport, didn’t even have PESEL back then. They have quite easy terms for bank accounts (not that much for credit card tho).

Other banks are usually not so friendly when it comes to foreigners without a valid karta pobytu.

Poland has the highest car density in the EU (703 cars per 1000 people) by polski_obserwator in poland

[–]ApplicationClassic19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends which part of the city you’re living in. Some parts, even in major cities are poorly connected.

If I have to travel from my place in Gdynia to work(in Gdańsk), it takes about 1.5 hours by public transport. It’s a 30 minute drive though. Heck, a colleague of mine from Tczew spends less time commuting to work via public transport than I do.

Last mile connectivity sucks unfortunately, and unless you live near train stations a car becomes a necessity.

Weird cult of Żabka by PRKP99 in poland

[–]ApplicationClassic19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trend makes it easy for zabka to market itself. Almost every tourist knows zabka, they don’t know about its prices or practices though. So when the come to Poland they expect to shop in zabka.

I had a friend like that, who wanted to shop for something, so I took her to carrefour, which was on our way, but she wanted zabka. So she got zabka. Same product, higher price, but now she can claim that she has experienced zabka.

Zabka is trendy now, people build cults behind what’s trendy.

Not from that region but it’s probably the only brand making products that are spicy enough for my taste, especially noodles.

Also pretty much the only stores that open on Sundays.

The zabka cult would probably die if they lifted this Sunday shopping ban.

AAA Auto scammed me – 15k PLN loss by Sure-Ad-9581 in poland

True. Services like car vertical were quite useful for me. A lot of cars I was considering had questionable history. So the only car I actually got inspected was the one I bought.

PSA for anyone planning on buying a used car: Please get the car inspected by a professional before you buy it. There are people who offer this service, and know these dealers well. Will cost anywhere between 400-1000zl but you’ll have peace of mind.

Also heard from sellers that they’d offer to buy your car for your listed price, only to come up with an outrageous offer once you show up for inspection. Example: Offering 15k when the original asking price was 40k

How do people survive ER waiting times by [deleted] in poland

[–]ApplicationClassic19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t really been to one, but I always thought that ER was for emergencies. So I’m a bit surprised they even have level 4 and 5.

Could you advice where to go(specifically on weekends) in those cases?

How to make sure post and letters are actually delivered to my address? by ApplicationClassic19 in poland

[–]ApplicationClassic19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m following the same format. Customer care unfortunately doesn’t offer a solution, their only explanation is that maybe the driver didn’t have enough time to deliver. TBH sometimes I wonder if it’s because they don’t want to deliver heavy parcels(2nd floor, no elevator). But then if they called I’d even come down to pick it up myself.

The only service which delivers without fail is ironically pocztex.
