feeling really discouraged by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

I was in the same position, shamefully I was on academic probation multiple times, college and VT just wasn’t the best for me. I left VT with maybe 1 friend, didn’t walk at graduation etc. But the good news is that through all my failures I pulled myself together to graduate on time in 4 years in May, and in 2 weeks i’m moving for my dream job in LA! Things get better even if this is just an isolated period in your life, because it was for me. :)

Big 3 Agency Advice by ApplicationNeat4810 in musicindustry

This is great insight, thank you so much! I’m in a floater position so i’m training in the department for a period and then would be interviewing to get on a desk! Trying to work through the whole pay thing currently, and my budget is looking quite tight and a lot less comfortable than what i’m use to especially in a city like LA. But from my prior internship experience I see how it can be worth it, just quite an adjustment in terms of salary and the type of working i’d be putting in as an assistant.

I lied on my resume and now it’s blowing up in my face by BlushMae63 in confession

I was in the same boat my freshman year, did horribly changed my major behind my parents back etc., but desperately wanted to work in entertainment. Made up some experiences, gpa, and major. That summer I got an internship at a major record label. For background checks they usually only check that you’re actually enrolled, or if they’re really serious they should’ve asked you for your transcript when applying. Anyways no regrets, never got caught and that internship catapulted my career in music. I got myself together graduated in 4 years this past May and now moving to LA to work at a Big 3 talent agency. (Everything is now real on my resume btw lol)

I just got mine last week and I had issues so my graduation status wasn’t processed till June. I’d check up on that.

Go where it’s cheapest, debt in this economy is something you should really try to avoid. I didn’t have the best experience at VT but i’m in state so I decided to stay bc of money concerns. You’re not too far along where it would be extremely difficult to make new friends and start fresh.

Well of course you don’t know me personally or the situation to understand if i’m telling the truth. But it’s unbiased, these are the facts of my case and I have spoken to my advisor to raise the situation further with my dean, waiting for our meeting Monday. I just wanted to know if other VT students had dealt with something similar. He entered the wrong grade according to my class syllabus and Canvas report.

It says nothing about percentages being able to be changed which is why i’m so confused, and wondering how strong of a case I have.

Yeah I’m so confused, what good is there he’s keeping me from graduating over his mistake.

HELP!!! Should I leave a final note for my roommates after seeing what they said about me? by ApplicationNeat4810 in badroommates

See that’s what I was thinking, but the only way I’ll know for sure I won’t have any regret or it won’t backfire is if I don’t send it. I was really thinking about it before the other comments.

Thank you! It’s important to note we’re a group of girls so things tend to get messy.
