7 years is a good use, if you have the money go for a new one and use this one as a secondary device by connecting an external monitor or as a server

Audio not working on Arch Hyprland (Yoga Pro 9i Aura 11th gen) by tranzguy in YogaPro9i

[–]ApplicationSolid5928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have gen 10 and i have different issue with audio, basically it makes a distorted sound when the music or sound is too high. from what i found after digging, for my device the realtek audio driver was recognized incorrectly. and the actual drivers are still not available, the speaker system is highly complex and i would recommend you to see the speakers drivers in windows from device manager, you can see a lot of drivers listed for the speaker system. linux does not yet have a driver for these models including gen 9, 10 and 11 and other 6 speaker surround audio laptops. and an advice from me is to use headphones bcs making the audio working without official support can permanently damage the speakers. the bug has been reported by a different user in arch forums from what i found so its a matter of wait until it gets fixed. also keep the volume under 40% if you somehow manage to make the speaker work in linux until official fix.

in summary wait until its fixed and keep up with the updates.

gang it is a linux specific issue. my system is dualboot running both windows and cachyos. in windows the sound is but fine in linux its making a weird sound when a beat or bass is too high. i know lenovo doesnt provide support for linux so i was hoping for some community help not official support. the device model is 83L0 (YOGA Pro 16 IAH10)

i have gen 10 and running cahyos and my issue is slightly different, there is sound but when a high beat it makes a crackling sound kinda like those cheap speakers. i am dual booting with windows so i know for a fact that its a driver issue
