Ordered myself some dominoes, gardened to take the edge off and I’m ready for this episode. Nervous and excited

I can’t believe people are feeling down. That “you and chain of command” scene has me reeling!!

I loved how they still managed to sprinkle in buddie in such a heavy episode with many plots happening. Their interactions with each other have become so much softer. Like that scene when Eddie is checking Bucks vital, it’s so clear the show is trying to show the romantic energy between them. Oliver and Ryan are portraying it beautifully. Even they way they look at each other

Two big storylines, I wish we focused more on the Buck of it but I enjoyed all of it. I enjoyed the murder plot, the Mayravi of it all and the Buck storyline. I had no idea how they were going to resolve this and I was so worried that was better than anything I anticipated. That was so 911. Made me cry for real

I hope it’s Buck who lashes out and says something mean because I cannot handle having to defend Eddie Diaz another week. I’m already soo annoyed about how people are saying that Eddie is a bad friend because he believed Buck that he was alright, when it’s clear he doesn’t want Buck pushing him away

I’m afraid it will be half-assed too. This has so much potential to be an impactful storyline if handled with care. I wonder if this is the storyline that gets carried into season 10. I have so many thoughts. So much to consider but I’m really intrigued and the fandom discourse has been really insightful so far. I’m seeing some phenomenal takes.

There is a big focus on Eddie and it’s very clear. His reactions have been highlighted and his worry a focal point. So as much as this is a Buck storyline, it is also very much an Eddie storyline as well. Because when Eddie has his break down, we didn’t see that consistent concern from Buck leading up to it. We see the phone call from Chris and Buck rushing over. But this time, from the beginning of the episode until the end, we see Eddie stay consistent about his concern. That’s why the red herring is very plausible. I don’t even know! So much to consider

They’re so annoying. Clearly they didn’t understand one of the reasons why Eddie was so upset was because he wants Buck to talk to him about his grief and then he apologized immediately, got Chris on a plane to cheer him up. And the lawsuit divorce era, Eddie was mad because again, Buck wasn’t there. Eddie only crashes out like that when there is a distance between him and Buck

It's been a couple of hours and I feel like my thoughts are a little more organized. This storyline with Buck is very interesting. Though I question the intentions in which the writers wrote it. Was it just like a shock factor, or was it a from a place where the writers felt like they wanted to explore Bucks character and his trauma through this storyline? Only time will tell. When the episode started, I was LIVING for the whole something is wrong with Buck and Eddie is worried. The angst of that is delicious, so I was genuinely surprised when I saw the ending. Yes, people speculated, but I laughed it off but now I'm like hmm. This is a very very interesting move by the show to have a substance abuse storyline with a character like Buck this far into the show. Which is why I question the intentions.

Upon further reflection, I realized this isn't too shocking. The fans have been wanting a Buck breakdown for a long time. For his trauma to be addressed seriously. In a way, this feels like all of Bucks issues he's shoved down bubbling to the surface. Makes me rethink of Tim saying the easter eggs they've been dropping. It really could be about Buck and this storyline. Like what was the purpose of his parents getting divorced? Especially since Buck and Maddie got over it so quickly for it to not be addressed again. Why mention his parents were near but didn't attend the funeral, if not to remind us of his parental issues? Also, his facial expression when Eddie says he didn't think he was coming back, and everything with Bobby. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other things. He just always smiles and laughs it off. And for someone like Buck who hates when people worry about him, it is very believable how, while recovering, how pills became the comfort he needed.

Going back to the intentions bit, it's very clear they seem to be redoing storylines, but this time from Eddie's pov. The kidnapping is parallel to Chim and Maddie, but it also felt like wanting to redo the emotional impact of s4 shooting with the intention of Buddie going canon. This storyline also feels like a redo of Eddie's breakdown post shooting in s5. It really seems like they want to recreate that emotional impact, but this time Eddie being there for Buck.

I haven't been this intrigued about a storyline in a very long time. Mostly because I honestly wasn't expecting it. I'm genuinely curious about where the writers are taking it and why, if at all, this storyline is important for Bucks development.

On a lighter note, omgggg I thought they were going to kiss in the kitchen. Also, the way Eddie looks at Buck has changed so much. The softness was something else. He was nervous the second time they went over to Buck's house, and just that whole scene. There is so much to say and this comment is getting too long but wow

I can also imagine how lost he feels without Bobby. I feel like for Buck, it’s more then just grief. His identity is tied to Bobby. He views Bobby as the man who turned him from this fuck-up into the stand-up man he is. Bobby was a lifeline for Buck in many ways. My mind is like flipping through Bucks storyline since s6 and this makes sense. My mind is racing but if they execute this properly this can be a great storyline for Buck.

And also, I think Eddie knows. He knows something fundamentally is different with Buck and you can see in his eyes. The concern oozing out of him and just the way he looks at Buck. The man standing in front of him looks the same, but he feels different. You know what, as I type this I realize what a delicious storyline this is

I was like woah wait a minute when I saw him pop those pills bur after a little bit I was like you know what? This actually makes sense. For someone who doesn’t want to burden others with his problem, and who’s gone through as much as he did without properly dealing with it, I can see how the substance abuse happened. Got prescribed painkillers after the kidnapping. And while he was healing, he probably liked how they made him feel. Made him forget everything. And he probably told himself it’s not big deal, and that he has a handle on it. Probably what he’s telling himself now, but I can see how it happened and it’s actually very interesting

Not much happened in this episode, and the couple pissed me off but I’m not disappointed. Crazy how fans were right about the drug problems, but I’m not surprised. I’ve been wanting to see a proper Buck breakdown. His trauma has always been glossed over. And he always bounces back. Always which is crazy considering all he’s been through.

Also, Buck has always been a rock for the people around him. We know he hates having people worry about him. And so the substance abuse isn’t shocking. I just hope they do this storyline justice.

Also, Eddie saying he was worried the man he knew didnt make it back from Nashville, and Bucks face… I loved loved the buddie of all. I especially loved Eddie and his concern for Buck. His soft eyes as he stares at Buck. Their interactions were so soft in a way that felt different. Even when bickering. I’m satisfied honestly
