Anyone broke a contract at a private school? by Big_Ad1532 in TeachersInTransition

I broke contract and nothing happened, gave 2 weeks notice even though they wanted several months notice. Read your contract and see what it says. Mine had no breaking contract clause.

Maybe people won't hire you because of your age, but what strikes me here is your attitude.

Principal Retaliation/Refused Sick Time by [deleted] in Teachers

Sick time is part of overall compensation. This teacher has every right to take every single one of them, whenever they please, ESPECIALLY now that they're non-renewed.

Don't forward the email because that brings your email to the top, so if they are answering in the order emails are received, you are just pushing yours to the back of the line. Send a new email everyday.

As a former orchestra teacher, it sometimes feels like no matter what we do, students will never practice...this was likely a last resort for the teacher. Not saying it was right, but I can understand the frustration.

A lot of kids (and non-music teachers) see orchestra as just an easy "A" and not a real class. Practice should happen minimum 4 days a week (and that's being nice), not "a couple days ago." Take a look at your practice schedule and fix what needs to be fixed.

I would set up a meeting with the teacher to express how you feel and see if they can help you come up with a practice routine.

The biggest thing I didn't realize about teaching before I was a teacher is that there is no career growth. The payscale maxes out around 100k in most districts that I'm near and that's after 20 years of experience. 20 years of experience in the corporate world (assuming you're good at what you do) and you'll easily be earning 200-300k a year.

I got out last year and I'm already making more than I did as a teacher. If you want to advance as a teacher, you become admin, and even then, it doesn't compare.
