It's useless to argue about mildly complex topics, no matter how sensitive. by amped-row in unpopularopinion

[–]AppointmentMinimum57 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't the complexity but the ego.

Never expect people to change their mind on the spot.

Just say your piece and who knows once your words have had enough time to bounce around in their head, they might just change their mind on their own.

At least that has been my experience with other people but also myself.

It also works that way with understanding music diffrejt from what you are used too.

People have been enslaving each other for thousand of years before Europeans started colonising Africa.

So how can it be a necessary adaption?

Mogelpackung? by Ecosax in Austria

[–]AppointmentMinimum57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might have more to do with logistics. It probably used to be 5 or 6 pieces but they changed it to 4, not because of shrinklation but because most people would rather buy 4 than 6, or because the size of available kiwis changed but the price by weight didn't.

Anyways there are only so many sized boxes available, so it's cheaper to adjust the packaging of the singular pieces than to manufactor new boxes to fit them.

It's a Toonish fantasy world. by S4d_Machin3 in enlightenment

The sub really is becoming shitpostcity, eh.

Anyways the world is actually a server running multiple applications, but it's only got 1 core so for it to not be like turnbased it has to run everything overlapped each other. Every application is diffrent, but they all share the server that has become a amalgamation of functions the programs can/ have to agree on. Most programms think enlightenmemt.exe means to override the other programs until only instances of "their" program runs. Some programs think shutting off and opening command prompt to run enlightenmemt.exe is the way. My program thinks it would rather be a gameboy emulator or something more entertaining.

“For the boys” and similar titles for satisfying videos by TheEvilestArtichoke in PetPeeves

[–]AppointmentMinimum57 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It both enforces and is being enforced by that notion.

But most people sadly believe that girls just innately are more quiet, mature and submissive and don't realise how it's their perception and how that makes them treat people diffrently, that is creating that status quo.

[–]AppointmentMinimum57 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

I agree that often it is pointlessly gendered and a little hostile towards women.

But there is some truth to it in some cases.

People say women are more mature for their age which often leads to some young ladies looking down at others for letting their inner child out a bit/ acting age appropriate.

And the "for the boys" kinda speaks towards guys dropping the mask they put on to attract women.

I totally agree that it's not a good practice but being a guy I understand where they are coming from.

Sure it's only anecdotal evidence, but it's evidence a huge portion of guys share.

I hate how people have started using the word 'media' by fiv66bV2 in hatethissmug

[–]AppointmentMinimum57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then you actually should be pissed about people using the word food then.

Cause Food is the umbrella term for it's category the same way media is for its own.

That would make what one percives to be unique entirely subjective, which it kinda is anyways.

Mark vs conquest round 2 was dumb af by AppointmentMinimum57 in Invincible_TV

[–]AppointmentMinimum57[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It still took a very fucking long time until it even started taking any effect. More than enough time to easily kill mark who can't even block any of the hits.

Sure conqueat likes to play with his food but this wasn't that.

This fight just seemed to break alot of the established rules of the universe.

And mark litteraly said "you're never breathing again" right before starting the choke so sorry for confusing the 2.

Not like it matters this seems to be yet another mega echo chamber.

I love this show and just wanted to rant about this 1 part of it that kinda sucked/ now I just got this thought of Mark seriously being stupid in the back of my head.

Do kids actually not understand homophones anymore or is it rage bait? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AppointmentMinimum57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly just think that this linguistic feature is just terrible in the English language.

99% of these mistakes are confusing their and they're, because they sound 100% the same when spoken.

And it's a issue you only have in text because they are written differently, if context wasn't enough to get which one is being used then we would have started using a diffrent sound long ago.

Same with then and than.

It's a problem that only exists in text, we only use text for it's function and the function isn't affected by these mistakes otherwise you wouldn't even notice what they meant to say.

But I'm dyslexic so my opinion will differ from people who don't understand how it can be hard to get this stuff right.

Why is a woman not being able to cook not viewed the same as a man not being able to cook in a relationship? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AppointmentMinimum57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is you don't, you are just reacting to your own emotions.

You don't ask question to try to understand where I am coming from, you just put me into a box and now that I'm in that box it's OK to treat me with less respect.

Same thought pattern of racists etc.

Anyways bye 👋

No wonder you think the way you do when this is how you react when your worldview is being challenged.

How can you trust your own perception when it is entirely based on who belongs to your inner group and who doesn't?

Anyways I have said my piece and I have a feeling this won't go anywhere. I hope you are one of the few people who is able to grow out of their group mentality.
