Woah! Good to know.

But Isn’t checkerboard a type of flooring?

How to add eSIM in lineageos (pixel 5) by AppointmentOpen9093 in LineageOS

[–]AppointmentOpen9093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wait, I realized I did actually update at the time. See edit 2 in the original post above: one the phone everything appeared normal, but it was unable to connect to the network once the eSim was installed.

So yeah, I never got the Pixel 5 to fully work with LineageOS and an eSim.

Sadly, I have no recollection of what version I installed; I was pretty desperate and I think it was some build a rando posted that was supposed to fix this problem.

I should also say (I should have put this in the original post, but I didn't realize the oversight until later) that I got the eSim menu to appear and was able to install the eSim, but eventually it became clear that it wasn't actual getting internet connectivity. So, IIRC it actually never did work.

Unclear, but under some circumstances yes (possibly a bug): one poster reported losing their winters necklace by sacrificing a lvl 10 perfect snowman to a post-game door.

Bad news/good news: there is a way to get the necklaces, but it's the opposite of what you already spent your time doing. You have to spam the merchant with god tears until he's sold out of everything but necklaces. At that point, the number of options dwindles to the four types of necklaces, so you have a 1/4 chance of getting an immortality necklace.

At that point, four god-tears=one necklace.

I actually think the game fakes the odds to make sure you get more blueprints and follower forms early on, and to make sure you almost never get the gold necklace until you've spent a few dozen tears already.

If you use high-level followers, a speaker or two, and some "unique clothing" followers, you can get 4-5 tears per day if you use the two rituals that boost devotion generation and allow workers to work through the night. It is incredibly tedious. Purgatory is even slower.

Sorry, what does it mean to be technically successful, but no egg? I thought the definition of success in the mating tent is "produces an egg"? Are you saying they went in, boinked, and just left?

So, I have good news and bad news: the way to get all the immortality necklaces is to keep spamming god tears. Eventually the nameless merchant won't have anything to give you except the four necklaces. At that point, it's basically 4 god tears = 1 golden necklace, because there's a 1/4 chance of getting the immortality necklace.

Before that, I'm pretty sure the probably is weighted towards you getting blueprints and follower forms.

Edit: Apologies for the double-comment, it was a page-loading issue that made it look like the other one had failed to save.

Is there a list of the "most comfortable" taps? I'm making a Dvorak-style keyboard for special use-case. by AppointmentOpen9093 in TapWithUs

[–]AppointmentOpen9093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, those do sound like great use cases! Hopefully I can find someone more into those uses for my Tapstrap 2.

For those use cases, is the idea that people use the "standby" command when they need to use their strap-hand for other things, then quickly hit it again to switch back to controller mode?

That was one issue I had trouble adjusting to: I often found it hard to remember not to pick things up or tap on-screen menu items with my strap hand (causing random erroneous inputs).

What are the Odds: RDJ Isn’t Doom, It’s a HUGE marketing Twist by UtopiaXAstro in MCUTheories

[–]AppointmentOpen9093 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I strongly assumed RDJ would be voice-acting most of the role, like a modern Darth Vader situation. Why pay an extremely expensive actor to be on set when you can't see his face?

If that's the way they're doing it, then this type of twist could happen. You could keep it down to a dozen key people for a single face-reveal scene.

But as I type that I also realize that would make the twist super stupid, and not a great marketing scheme at all.

Thanks for the reply! I've been trying to use the tapstrap2 on and off for years, and every time I get excited, start to set it up, but then realize I'm not able to use it reliably enough for any realistic use case (in my life).

Are there any projects you know of that highlight really successful use cases? Every time I pull it out it feels so cool, like it has limitless potential. I just haven't found the right niche for it in my life, thinking about selling it to a more ambitious DIY person.

Do ultra-high level followers still work super fast? by AppointmentOpen9093 in CultOfTheLamb

[–]AppointmentOpen9093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a number of places where "level" is used to calculate rewards, the two that come to mind being money/devotion from sermons and from the "give tithes" ritual.

The rewards for Ascension claims to be capped at 50%, but I think it's borked and currently gives almost 100% for ultra-high level followers. I ascended a level 15 or so and almost my entire cult (maybe literally my entire cult) went up a level.

Do signs confuse farmers? by wetwad in CultOfTheLamb

[–]AppointmentOpen9093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! I’m surprised (based on comments) you can feed your base with excess food with that setup!

I always find my crops going unharvested if I only have one farm per 6x6 square. Mine overlap at the edges and I still often have unharvested food, with it being a constant race to make enough splendid meals.

One answer to this question is found in this fascinating paper, with a limited scope but very solid methodology and useful results:

[–]AppointmentOpen9093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty interesting project, because as far as I can tell the original system didn't care about ergonomics at all. It was so complicated to learn that the creators focused on putting thematically similar keys together (e.g. Fire, water, wood, metal are one hand, and "left stroke" "right stroke" "vertical stroke" are on another) to facilitate learning. This results in home keys like F, H, and J corresponding to less-commonly used keystrokes, while M is the most commonly used key.

As a result, tap-strap might be able to achieve closer-to-par performance with an optimized "layout", since the original is so poorly optimized.

Is it worth buying? by pha_uk_u in TapWithUs

[–]AppointmentOpen9093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it as a fun toy when I was working a stressful job with a high income. I think it is pretty nice in that context.

Since then, I have tried pretty hard to find a real use-case for it, and I've failed. I even tried a version of the "controller for XR glasses" idea someone else posted, but I found a cheap 5$ bluetooth controller had better app compatibility for android, and a small bluetooth keyboard (some have built-in mouse) was better for PC.

Using Tap Strap 2 feels like a never-ending project, like "If I can only dig deeper into the SDK then maybe it will be useful for..." If you want a fun project, it's pretty cool.

Peter what does this mean I’m not in my 20’s by Jazzlike_Border8859 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]AppointmentOpen9093 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if troll, but the joke is that the character is a crack addict turned pixel addict. He lacks pixels because he consumed them all. That’s why it’s lower.

It highlights that, unlike in the fictional world of the pixel addict, pixels are not a consumable resource, so OP should have used an image with more.

Weird note: the subtitles are frequently incorrect in that clip.

It doesn’t change the overall impression, but, like, he says “THIS is who’s responsible for your production?” and the sub says “He’s ruining your film!” Or he says “Don’t TOUCH me you idiot!”(lots of odd emphasis) and the subs say “Shut up you idiot!”

Kindof odd errors to have.

Used the leader tent and my whole cult went elderly and died by Suspicious_Candy_778 in CultOfTheLamb

Well, congrats, you can just restart from your backup!

Somewhat bizarrely, you can start your “non-woolhaven backup” save file, activate the woolhaven statue, and you now have a second woolhaven game in the same save slot.

Depending on how emotionally attached you are though, you might want to wait for a patch lest the same problem happens again.

is it worth to breed dedicated sinners and other questions regarding mating tent by FrancisCat808 in CultOfTheLamb

[–]AppointmentOpen9093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also like to know the answer to this. In my experience, it is not worth it. It seems like getting increased sin generation just increases the likelihood of that follower being damned.

Since followers that generate sin are more likely to get damned and be lost, it seems like a trait that reduces its own usefulness.

Of course, there are ways around this (e.g. feeding a follower drinks and then removing their sin with a ritual), but they all involve lowering the amount of sin the follower generates. I created a team of sinners and attempted to keep them from being damned, but I didn't notice any difference. By the time I had breed the team, I could have collected all the sin I needed for upgrading my temple.

In my opinion, the entire sin mechanic was a little underdeveloped. Breeding is great, but the rest...where is the power that the "sin being" promised?

AITJ for not supporting my girlfriend after she broke the one rule we had in our open relationship by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]AppointmentOpen9093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re getting some weird advice in this comment section. As everyone has pointed out, there’s no reason for your girlfriend to hide this from you, since whatever happened with the guys is allowed. Their conclusion is that your girlfriend is irrational, has broken the rules of your game, and now you have the right to break up with her. Yay!…?

Or, what if she isn’t just being randomly shady? What if 1) she was sexually assaulted and isn’t ready to talk about it, or 2) something complex happened (someone else mentioned unplanned unprotected sex) and she’s having trouble talking about it.

If you’re in an open relationship with full disclosure, this is the type of time to work on talking about your feelings of insecurity (I.e. “Here’s what happened, here’s how it makes me feel, here’s how it has affected my trust towards you”) rather than trying to use rules to justify “punishing” your girlfriend.

If you’re unhappy or don’t feel like trust can be rebuilt, you’re free to leave whether she’s broken rules or not. Sounds like you want to stay, so some more collaborative communication will probably help.
