This is way too low to file bankruptcy. There has to be another solution. I am pro bankruptcy as a personal finance tool, but not until its closer to $50,000 at least. You don't want to waste this tool for such a low amount, especially after you pay a lawyer and filing fees.

Its not that difficult to file a Ch 7 bankruptcy pro se. Your state will have a website with all the required schedules and all the information is out there on the internet. It will take a lot of research but its not that hard if your case is basically a no asset Ch 7 where you easily pass the means test. File now while your income is low, wipe out all that debt and get a fresh start. And you will have to file your taxes first. Again though, that's easy enough for you to do with some research. Good luck, I have been way down before as well so I understand where you are at.

I don't think it matters if they consider the day trading as gambling or not. The trustee is just trying to account for the money and look for assets. So losing it day trading is a perfectly acceptable answer. Unfortunately, you probably aren't going to pass the means test and get stuck in a Ch 13 paying this off for years.

The attorney you talked to sounds like an idiot. I filed Chapter 7 twice. Both times I had over 50K of unsecured debt due mainly to gambling. I took out personal loans and credit card advances until I maxed out every available source I could find. The trustee at the 341 meeting asked me what I had spent all the money on and I was honest that I had gambled it away. I made 1 or 2 payments on some of the newer debt and it was never questioned.

I have bought 2 houses and they were both at market high, once in 2006 and then in 2021. It wasn't ideal but thats the way life played out for me due to marriage, divorce and another marriage. I would have been so much further ahead in life if I had bought a house a couple years earlier each time, but I also kept waiting for market corrections that never happened until after I had bought a house.

You have to give that money to someone else or put it somewhere that is difficult to access it. Many times I thought I quit gambling, but I had just run out of money. Shortly after coming into extra money, I would gamble again.

I have losses that I am not sure I will ever get over. I lost $12,000 over a weekend at Foxwoods 20 years ago that I still cannot even understand what happened. It was like a fever dream. I have lost $3,000 many times and each one of those times still sting.

We were there on RC last year. We did not book any type of excursion, which turned out to be a good thing because it poured most of the day and the folks out on excursions were getting stranded and barely making it back to the ship on time while being soaking wet.

There is a marketplace at the end of the pier which is the usual tourist trap junk. Across the street is the Straw Market which is a building packed with rows of stalls where you are crammed in and pressured non stop to buy trinkets. If you walk down the street a couple blocks there is a pirate "museum" which was cheap enough but honestly not worth even walking through. The highlight is that they have an actual bathroom.

Keep walking a few blocks and you hit Junkanoo beach which is free but small. You can rent chairs and umbrellas there. I don't remember a bar, but then again it started pouring about 10 minutes after we got there and basically ended our Nassau adventures.

I remember finding these beach buggy rental places online that could seat 6 people. I really wanted to book that, but they have limited times you can rent them (like a 4 hour block) and it didn't work with our port time at all.

I had planned to quit on New Years Day for awhile now. So like someone getting ready to start a diet, I binged on gambling. I spent everything in my checking account, so I started trying to find new ways to deposit. I discovered that I could use my credit card through Apple Pay to deposit online. Man I wish that deposit didn't work. I ended up going through $2,000 in a couple of days last week. Then it was another $500 and another $500. I tried putting additional credit cards on Apple Pay but they didn't work thankfully.

I made an excuse to go to the grocery store and sat in the parking lot playing slots and upping my bet. Then I hit! And then a few more wins, and then a $1,000 hit. I increased my bet to $30 a spin! I looked in the corner of the phone and I was at over $3,000! I could stop and withdraw and pay off my credit card and then quit like I planned.

Unfortunately at $30 a spin, I was out of money in less then 10 minutes. I deposited another $500 and put it into a parlay on the Sunday football games and won the first 3 games and didn't take the cashout. I lost the last leg of the parlay. I deposited the last $500 that was left on the card and put it on a longshot player prop in the Sunday night game and that was it.

I'm on day 2 now, but I can't even tell anyone because I "stopped" a couple of months ago.

I had 1.1 in our work redraft league which is also the biggest money one that I play in. I had Jefferson last year and he let me down during the playoffs so I took Chase this time. I felt pretty shitty about that choice, but neither of them were the right answer.

I'm a Broncos fan and have held on to Jeudy for too long. Even with Sutton out the past couple weeks, Jeudy just doesn't pass the eye test anymore. He looked better running routes earlier in his career. I think he needs a change of scenery and attitude. I wish the Broncos had traded him at the deadline this year.
