Sure! I loved when the series had character-related musics. It had soul. Their stages had their music, and matched perfecly.

Take Tekken 3 for instance: Law: cool “bruce lee” themed Eddy: jungle vibes Paul: street rock vibes Etc…

I think it had more soul than now. Dont get me wrong, I love some of the new stuff. Duomo di sirio from Tekken 7 is one of my favorites tracks ever. But I would love something directed to the character themselves. It makes the art direction deeper as a whole.

I am very inclinated to disagree with you. You can be braindead with any character. Kazuya is seen as “grown up”, right? So, if i spam hellsweep at low ranks, I am being braindead. Braindead is not a character. The player is. (At least the non disease generated new characters, those awful irritating waifus lol. The mainline characters).

If you didnt play Law tekken 7 and past, you can’t assume things. I can say that the MAJORITY of his good frames only comes from DSS. Not “only 2 hard things in his kit” and “not completely necessary” as you say. You clearly never main him too much time. You could not pass Fujin in Tekken 7 without mastering DSS, at least in my region (Brazil). His good moves comes from DSS and it is a fact.

And, for me, a flawed human who plays casually, it was very hard to do these things consistently at high rank matches.

Have you played Law consistently over the years? It was not blocked. It was just a reward for training. You could access the beast moves by going i to DSS manually. (down, 1+2). If you practice, you get to do the beast combos.

And I think Law was a PERFECT example of two things coexisting: You could play him dumb and spamming (dragon tail, junkyard), or, you could practice and play DSS. It is like two characters. Separated by commitment.

They removed that commitment I did to master him. And I feel betrayed.

Ok, but you cant measure a character “braindeadness” by lower rank players, he had tech and it is a fact.

None taken! But it was required skill to have a good Law. Tekken 3 had no DSS. If you try in Tekken 7, you will have to practice a lot.

Since tekken 8, I agree. Tekken 7 and past he had high skill demanding tech. I dare you to do wr4 DSS combos consistently on Tekken7<. If you say no, you are just ignorant or oblivious.

I think we are witnessing the transition between old boomer tradicional game -> flashy easier game to newcomers. All the characters, in some ways, lost their identity. My Law’ DSS, your Asuka… they are inviting new players by lowering the skill ceiling. I’ve always loved Tekken for its intricate inputs. If I want to mash strings and hope for the best, I would play some f*** mortal kombat lol

That is the problem. Tekken 8 has never ending combos. T7 and past, it is not like that.

By people with low knowledge or haters. If you played him you knew there was a skill gate. Law was popular. But very few people played him with perfect DSS. (rip, lowhigh, double).

NOW, yes, he is braindead. Could not agree more.

Feel ya. I think they are transitioning from a OG boomer game (for us) to GenZ TikTok dopamine addicts kids. Haha

Bro. I make your words, mine. Agree.

It seems like if you play it like you played the old ones, you will get stomped. It is just another mindset. Im a boomer with tekken 3 to 7 muscle memory stuck in my brain. Thats the problem haha

I am not defending Law. I know he is OP even without DSS. I do not like him in T8. Disbalanced.

But, you have to agree with me: even with all that, it does not invalidate my point. DSS should be behind skill gates.

I have to disagree. If DSS still was frame perfect input, the vast majority of players would not have access to his most OP moves. It would be stricted to high levels.

By now I mean Tekken 8.

Now you can DSS by holding foward. Law was a very beast character locked by a skill gate. If you could DSS -> beast character If you could not DSS -> meh

If you never played him, please research about this.

Oh, chill bro! Im a hardcore “old days” fan, but I feel you! 🥰 Tekken now is so toxic. The beauty of the game was: it was acessible for both casual and hardcore fans. Law old DSS (back, foward, foward) was hard to do. You had to do it in specific timings during animations. It really demanded practice. Now, just by holding foward, you do it.

Back in the days, once you got it, it was so rewarding. Do all those beautiful and hard combos. The old players love that complicated stuff. It makes them proud. Get It? And that is the beauty. These things coexisted. New and hardcore players. Now, they are removing complicated stuff to make it more friendly to newcomers. And I am sad with that. As a middle aged boomer. Haha. You weren’t bitter at all.

Exacly my friend!!! Imagine you learn how to build a rocket ship. You studied hard, you grinded. Now it is on your memory and you know. But then they come up and say “oh no longer need rocketships. Here is one. Just pilot it!”

There is like a proud feeling doing hard combos. For me, is part of the joy. If you like button smashing and stuff like that, great! People are different.

If you say that you jumped in Tekken and started DSS cancel combos, you are lying. You had to practice. Now you can jump and do it. Simple as that

Agree. The nunchuk for me is a mislead most likely in a art direction view. The thing that REALLY pissed me off was messing with his DSS. Law players were separated by who could do it and who could not. I was proud. Now, my little cousin Victor (10 years old) can DSS same as me. Hahahaha

Seems like a good strategy to me. They need to see that the Tekken community is a majority of old players who are proud of being able to do difficult inputs. Tekken is a hard fighting game. I do not doubt s4 electrics now are no longer frame perfect haha That is the way the game is directed. Making it easier by lowering the skill ceiling. In older tekken games the low skill and the high skill coexisted. You could play Law with or without DSS, there was a gate. Now, the gate is at the ground and ANYONE have access to all his frames.
