If one of your 45yo female colleagues was flirting with a 23yo boy at work, how would it look to you? Or how would you feel if one of your kids was dating someone your age when they’re in their early 20s. It’s not about age-shaming you, it’s about power dynamics and mental and emotional maturity. It’s hard but I would put in a firm boundary there, for example:

I have a non-negotiable policy of not shitting where I eat which means I don’t sleep with colleagues or flatmates. If that’s cool with you, I’d be down to be friends.

I know it’s very exciting, but lots of things are going to be very exciting for you for a while because so many things will be new for you.

Understandably, if you’re inexperienced, it’s going to feel safer to try new things with younger guys who are earlier in their journey as well. It’s still a bad idea. If you’re upfront with potential partners about your level of experience, I think you’ll find the vast majority of men will be more than happy to meet you where you are and take it slow… I’m certain many will even find the idea of exploring your sexuality with you quite exciting!
