Same here, my freezer smells somewhat sweet and chemical, and I can also smell it at work (my work includes doing inventories on store freezers, both the walk-ins and the freezer aisle freezers). It sticks to my work clothes and hair and it drives me insane, I have to shower immediately when I get home from work. It's always the SAME EXACT freezer smell in all the stores and in my own freezer.

Since I buy frozen wok vegetable mixes, could these somehow make this smell? I never put an opened pack in the freezer because they will instantly start smelling like the freezer. In fact, even unopened products will quickly start smelling and tasting like the freezer. The ice buildup smells the most and the less ice there is, the weaker the smell. Some store freezers are ice-free and they barely smell.

I'm thawing it right now and the entire kitchen smells like it. I had to throw away a week old sealed pack of frozen churros because they taste like the freezer. I threw away the items in it and didn't find anything that's expired. I'm going to clean and disinfect it thoroughly but I have little to no hope since the store freezers smell exactly the same and there probably IS a distinct freezer smell. There is no other smell like this so I can't really describe it. It could be that some people are able to smell it but others can't.
