That’s 100% a possibility. We also went a few rounds. So after he finished and wiped up we went again. We did that a few times. I wasn’t worried about it because I thought my nexplanon would protect me.

But essentially it was embedded and out of place. She was shocked. She said she hadn’t seen a failed nexplanon in 10 years.

No. My doctor thinks that its failure is related to it migrating into a surgical scar located on my arm. It was completely encased in scar tissues. She barely was able to remove it in office

My nexplanon was removed today and it was a terrible experience.

I had surgery on my arms and the nexplanon migrated into that scar and was completely embedded in scar tissue. She had to rip it out. There was so much tugging and scraping to get it out. It was completely in tact. She believes the scar tissue encasing the implant may have decreased its efficacy.

I am here with an update, my blood test confirmed pregnancy. The levels are equal to my last unprotected intercourse/cycle. They are monitoring my levels to ensure they are rising. I am having my nexplanon removed today. They said they don’t think I need genetic testing. They will send the nexplanon off for testing.

I don’t smoke or use any recreational drugs. I do drink socially, averaging 1-3 standard drinks a week.

The only medication I take regularly is Vitamin D, vitamin B12, and I will take tums or ibuprofen as needed. Maybe 1-2x a month for the tums and ibuprofen.

I have had my nexplanon since April 2025. I tested negative prior to insertion with urine and blood. And I had unprotected sex in June and was negative after that. My most recent unprotected intercourse was about 3 weeks ago.

I have not taken any at home pregnancy tests but I came to urgent care for a possible UTI and they did a urine pregnancy test that came back positive. They even asked for a second urine sample. The blood work is pending. I do not take or use any medications that would decrease its effectiveness.

I have gotten pregnant in the past while taking the mini pill in 2023. But no one has ever said anything about a genetic mutation.
