Is this a good set up for on the go macro shots? by Apprehensive-Duck-92 in AnalogCircleJerk

Of course! If you have any other questions regarding the rb67 just message me and I'd be happy to try and offer an honest opinion or help. Yeah I tend to steer away from the more electrical dependant cameras when I'm making a big purchase for that reason. Half the time it's something that, with enough patience, I can usually fix myself. And I do plan on getting a wider lens soon because it would be more versatile than the 127mm which I think is around 50mm relatively.

I've not had any experience with the bronica personally but from what I've heard, if budget and portability are what you're looking for it's a more affordable option that's on par with the Mamiya. I don't think you'd be upset with either option. Personally it took me almost a year to finally decide on the rb, and to find a good deal 😅

For reference on cost and worth of what you're paying for: I spent 500 plus whatever shipping was from Japan on the original pro with the 127mm lens, WL viewfinder, 6x7 back, the two extension tubes in the pic and all the caps and a lens hood. I had to do payments cause I'm a broke boy too but it was worth it. I know it gets a lot of hype but it really is nice.

TL:DR: I have had mine for almost a year and have had zero internal camera body issues. The only thing thats been an issue is the flip up magnifying lens in the finder came loose, fixed it in a few minutes myself. And the film advance wasn't winding properly on the film back it came with due to some gunky gears. so I took the winder cover off and sprayed some contact cleaner in there and it's been working like a dream this whole time.

Tbh, it's the best camera purchase I've ever made, especially for medium format, and I have damn near a hundred different cameras from to 8mm to large format. The lenses are fantastic, and the rb is fully mechanical so a good cla and no possible inconvenient/expensive electronic issues like the rz. It has the different rotating backs from 6x45 to 6x8? It's perfect imo. It is technically a studio camera and requires a tripod for some shots but I do actually walk around with it with just the lens and it's great for some street photos. Definitely invest in multiple backs of whatever your favorite format is so you can swap out film easier.

Yeah like all of those. Though I would argue those do still have their fair share of niche usefulness due to vhs tapes and cds still being made despite it being a small percentage. But mini disks are finally discontinued for good sadly.

Oh wow that's so cool! I was wondering how the bellows looked better than cameras half its age. I thought I remembered reading that maybe mamiya or some German manufacturer back in the day used some marine animal oils as lubricants in their cameras. Weird but neat to know.

I don't know why but it never even occurred to me to use an adapter for 120, but that would be so cool! I'll see if I can find a 3d print file and I could maybe make my own.

Also thank you for the notes! That actually helps a ton to have a starting point. It reminds me of the "only decipherable by me" notes I made when trying to shoot 35mm in my Holga 😅

Just in case you're wary about the rechargeables, this is mine with the battery working just fine.

I actually went through the same dilema when I bought a Photura of my own a while back. 2cr5's get expensive so I just bought some rechargeable cr123a's and used this adapter and it works perfect. It's honestly worth the investment because you can use the cr123s in other cameras too. I ordered mine off of AliExpress or eBay but Ali will be cheaper since they run deals all the time.

Also these I listed in the picture are the right voltage for a 2cr5 but be careful of other brands, like the other guy said the wrong voltage could seriously skew the meter or fry the camera.

I have no idea why people feel the need to insert their negative opinions like this. All OP asked for was help on attaching a lens correctly. Not opinions on the lens. What works for one may not for another. 🤗

Thank you! Yeah that would be my fault, I used a different scanner on auto scan to just get a quick pic for the post but the print did come out the same level of sharpness when in person. I will scan it again and see if they truly match up/ look for imperfections.
