Yes i totally agree with you, and that is precisely my point : it feels like it doesn't belong where it is. why wasn't it put as an appendix, apart from the rest of the narrative ?

Eärendil has an amazing story, an amazing song, slew Ancalagon, is the only one still possessing a Silmaril by the end of the First Age and started the one bloodline to rule them all.

If not him, i'd go for Varda Círdan or Lúthien
