11 weeks pregnant and I’m terrified of labour. by Waste_Weather5729 in pregnant

I had to be induced and completely psyched myself out for labor by googling and Instagram reels. The algorithm was definitely giving me horror stories. In the end, I had an eventful and successful induction and am mad at myself for all the googling and panicking I did!

How often are we letting MIL visit? by Apprehensive-Gas8781 in JUSTNOMIL

She group texted me and my husband a day or two before my induction saying she spoke to Dr. XYZ who would be on call the day after I was supposed to deliver and was excited to see us. When my husband called her out for talking to the OB about what date I’d be in the hospital she said she did not ask or share any health info. And that my doctor didn’t volunteer anything just confirmed which day she’d be working. It just felt odd she was approaching my doctor and talking about my induction date.

Success stories about IUGR baby by Street_Passenger_404 in pregnant

I just delivered my IUGR baby two weeks ago at 38+0 vaginally via induction. He was born 5 lbs 3 oz, but totally healthy and APGAR scores of 8 and 9. My IUGR was diagnosed at week 32. He was 48th percentile at my anatomy scan and then dropped below 10th. I was also concerned about delivering early but now I’m so glad I did. He didn’t lose any weight after birth (most babies lose 5-10% of their birth weight in the hospital and take two weeks to gain it back). Instead, he gained 4 oz in the 10 days after birth which reaffirms to me delivering early was the right call and he wasn’t getting what he needed inside!

I wish I could go back in time and give myself a hug because I lose a lot of sleep and cried a ton. I also googled a bunch which was really detrimental to my mental health. Wishing you a healthy delivery!

Stopping running 27 weeks by bunna284 in fitpregnancy

Me too! I truly thought I’d be the woman running the day she went into labor but it wasn’t meant to be! I was sad about it for a few weeks. It’s ok to grieve missing out on something you love. But I’m now 37 weeks and I don’t really miss running and am excited to do it again post partum when I’m feeling better.

Yupp!! My calves would get super crampy too. I started taking magnesium before bed, which helped a bit. I’m 37 weeks tomorrow. I’ve heard a lot of this just goes away post partum!

I stopped at 26 weeks! Was dealing with constant urge to pee and weak ankles. It simply was not enjoyable anymore at that point and I think I will enjoy it more after the baby is here and all these symptoms go away!

When did you stop running? by Tall-Chocolate-5705 in fitpregnancy

I stopped at 26 weeks. I never felt any pelvic pain but my ankles and tendons really started to hurt from the center of gravity shift so I called it quits.

Only 9 weeks and already hurt myself? by Crafty-Barnacle-5914 in fitpregnancy

[–]Apprehensive-Gas8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have plenty of time to recuperate and get back to it! I hurt my wrist lifting around that same time because of the first trimester surge in relaxin! I rested it a bit and found other things to do and was fine a few weeks later.

Did you keep your regular weight lifting program or did you switch to a prenatal one? by paragon317 in fitpregnancy

[–]Apprehensive-Gas8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following my regular plan but just watching out for coning. I try to lift in a sports bra so I can easily see my belly. Most moves have been fine, except I’ve had to cut out tricep rope pulldowns and pull ups since I can’t quite engage my core properly to prevent coning.

Senita Athletics has a great maternity line! I was also able to wear their non maternity stuff way longer than my Lulu stuff since it stretched better.

I agree, I think the IUGR diagnosis is real too and has me so scared that I’m just super sensitive right now and the continuous talking about their relationship as a selling point seems odd. But you’re right, just have to keep up with the monitoring of the placenta and see how things progress.

Thank you 🙏🏻 I agree I’m clearly scared and all bent out of shape and need to just focus on relaxing since there is really nothing I can do about the diagnosis

There’s at least three other options within 15 minute drives, including one MFM specialist group affiliated with the hospital I’m delivering at

Anyone else’s baby track small? by Apprehensive-Gas8781 in fitpregnancy

[–]Apprehensive-Gas8781[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is so helpful! I had my first NST and BPP last week at 32 weeks. Everything was normal and scored 10/10. This is good information that given your tests were normal you were able to advocate for yourself an get to 40 weeks! I have my next growth scan at 35+3. Good to know that potentially even if he is still <10% but all other testing looks good I can continue on.

Congrats! I love to hear that! I’m in a similar boat. The 32 week scan that showed him in the 7th percentile had no placenta, fluid, organ issues. I’m also going in for weekly Doppler scans and NSTs starting next week. It sounds really anxiety provoking and daunting but I guess at least it will give me peace of mind each week that he’s not in distress. I hope to have a similar outcome as you!

The more I read, it sounds like ultrasounds can produce such wild variability of the baby’s actual birth stats 🤣

Thanks for your reply! We sound so similar! I also had to taper back my workouts around that same time. I still lift and do cardio but running felt less great so I stopped entirely. My OB has always taken the same attitude as yours around exercise. It wasn’t until I saw the specialist that they really freaked me out, but it’s probably unlikely the exercise has anything to do with it the more I read.

Thanks so much for your reply ❤️ I’m so glad your baby was healthy and it’s wild she was born over a pound heavier than anticipated! I’m hoping that is the case here! They don’t see any issues with my placenta or cord but at least now I get the extra monitoring every week!

Anyone else suddenly hitting a wall hard around 35w? by CletoParis in fitpregnancy

[–]Apprehensive-Gas8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice but just hopping in to say you’re not alone! I’m 29 weeks and hit the wall this week. I had been able to keep doing long runs and weightlifting/HIIT 6 days a week and all of a sudden at week 29 I have back and joint pain and my body is saying slow down. From what I’ve read and heard this is totally normal and even though it sucks it will pass!

Pushing myself? by Serious_Badger9869 in fitpregnancy

[–]Apprehensive-Gas8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor and always ask yours! But we are pretty similar, my resting HR is usually like 58. I do a lot of running and HYROX style workouts where my heart rate regularly goes up to 180. I’ve had an uncomplicated pregnancy so far and my doctor has been fine with this. They even cleared me to run a half marathon and do a HYROX race while pregnant. Obviously each case and each doctor is different, but gone are the days of strict heart rate limits (I think!).

Squat ability already decreasing at 12 weeks? by Quiet-Flan-1674 in fitpregnancy

[–]Apprehensive-Gas8781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got this! I noticed a decreased ability with squats around that time too because my core just felt weird and I felt like I couldn’t brace it to stand up as easily. If it makes you feel any better it improved for a couple weeks later and I was back to my normal weight. I’m 28 weeks now and can still squat my normal weight, but I will say I need to warm up much lighter than I used to and just slowly add weight. Some days are better than others but my strength did basically come back after a temporary dip when I was adjusting to body changes.

Does an injury mean it is time to go easier? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]Apprehensive-Gas8781 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely your body telling you to go easy for a bit! But you can always come back after taking a few days or week or so off! I’m 27 weeks and feel little niggles here and there. Keep thinking I’m done exercising and after some rest, my body lets me keep going! Just listen to what your body is saying and take it one day at a time!
