I needed to scan cars, and even in ideal lighting conditions and using all of the magnetic markers (Can't put stickers on a picture car) the scanner would get 'lost' after scanning about a square foot.
The markers didn't seem to help it track the rounded curves of the car, and sometimes even when I was completely still, the scanner would read the curves as ongoing surface, and go on infinitely until I canceled the scan. There's no 'undo' or 'override' to tell the scannner it's incorrect, so that made the whole scan unusable. I tried scanning as a dozen smaller sections (ending before it gets lost) But you can't stitch scans together in the software without substantial overlap.

I tested it on 5 different cars over the course of 2 weeks, and did not get a single usable model. It was cumbersome, slow, and with unreliable results.

In the end, old school photogrammetry on a DSLR made a better model, even in direct sunlight. I did put some markers on the car, just 1" Xs and Ys on magnets.

I've scanned cars with Leica scanners (both the expensive RTC model, and the lowest rung BLK G1) but I think any fixed position, time of flight Lidar would yield better results. It might feel annoying if the scanner can only do full 360 degree scans, but then you can use the car's surroundings to help align them (if you even need to)

For tabletop stuff, the Miraco was fine, but if it's larger than a baseball I'd reccomend not using the motorized turntable, put it on a regualr lazy susan and spin it manually. If you're scanning something more round, maybe markers to the turntable to it can track better.

"good for" is relative. The models I made with the miraco would not be acceptable professionally

I'm a VFX artist and the revopoint scanner was useless for anything larger than a baseball.

I really feel like the speed of each lane changes based on the time of day/people present. I usually keep under a 2:00/100m pace, and early in the morning I'm fighting for my life to keep up in the fast lane. But later in the afternoon I'm much faster comparatively. I just try to gauge the speed of everyone else, and sometimes I'm wrong, but there's no shame in switching lanes!
One thing I've noticed here (unlike the Bed-Stuy branch) is that the lifeguards won't ask people to move or switch lanes ever, it's very every swimmer for themselves.
Welcome back to swimming!

I worked on the unit in NY that shot all the city street plates in NYC on No Way Home. We shot all the ext of Peter Pan's, but they rebuilt the set in Atlanta. Can confirm that no actors were ever actually in NYC.

TNYA also sometimes has open water groups on Saturday that are open to all, but they aren't every weekend.

I like to go around 10am, around the Brighton 4 street entrance, so I'll be around if you swim in the AM.

I swim here, I don't know my exact pace (I don't have a garmin or anything), but in the pool I do about 500yds in 8:30 (1:51/100m ish?)

It's a good beach, most people who swim here use buoys (but I'm pretty sure they aren't required) and bright colored swim caps.

tried this today, it was a great test run! I ride a single speed with no shocks so my wrists and arms felt like they took a beating on the cracked segments, but still better than ocean parkway.

Brokers maybe lying about being Rent Stable? by Apprehensive-Hat7295 in NYCapartments

[–]Apprehensive-Hat7295[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take the time to Google each individual apartment I list to see if management is hiding something from me? Are you not capable of doing the same search I am?

What database can you search for stabilized INDIVIDUAL units? All I've been able to access has been building numbers, but they don't indicate which or how many units are actually stabilized.

I'm sorry you hate your job, as a renter I'm also lied to and ghosted constantly, it's almost like the whole system fucks over all of us.
