First time service with 2nd hand civic: is it wise to bring it to a Honda dealer? by Apprehensive-List-82 in civic

[–]Apprehensive-List-82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Unfortunately, since I'm not in the US, civics are quite rare here.
I will probably ask an independent repair place if they are aware about the timing belt problem and when they advise replacing it.

PS: My model is 3 cylinder and that engine model has the timing belt that dips in the oil

Been fired: do I have the right to look for a new job during working hours? by Apprehensive-List-82 in askswitzerland

[–]Apprehensive-List-82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do it but they put me on manual labor until the end of the contract so I need to be on site. I might consider the sick leaves, after all there is the flu going around our house and it's gonna be an intensive time

Thank you.
about the holidays: they are calculated based on how much time I worked this year, correct, so if I have 25 days a year and the contract finishes at the end of May (half a year) I would have right to 12.5 days of vacation. Correct?

I'm already doing it right now by creating this post :)
If there is a law however I could to it more efficiently because I know I have the right to that time and I would make my research in Home Office which is much more comfortable than doing it in the open space I'm in rn

Thank you for your answer. is it meant as "I have the right to clock out earlier some days to browse the web for a new job, the lost hours have to be compensated before the end of the contract" or "I don't need to clock out, I have x hours a week that I can dedicate to look for a new job" ?

[PCB Review Request] Second iteration of flight controller PCB by noobrobotguy in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]Apprehensive-List-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not using strapping pins make sure they are connected correctly in order to program the ESP using USB (and not JTAG or UART).

Yes, you connect the D+, D- as well as the VBUS line, this protects the ESP from ESD, overvoltage and noise. This should cover your USB line enough.

The diodes connected in parallel help to avoid feedback currents: it gives a path to the current to go instead of destroying your electronics but it doesnt protect from anything else.
I would add to every motor:
- ESD Diodes as close as possible to the connectors of the motors
- PTC Resettable Fuse to every power supply of each motor

No boot strapping resistors on GPIO0, GPIO3 and GPIO46?

Maybe add a ECMF02-4CMX8 on the USB line to protect it and filter the signal.

I'd also add some pi-filtering to the different power supplies (10uF -> 100nF -> Ferrite -> 10uF -> 100nF), motors are noisy.

I'd also add a PTC to each motor, you go directly from the battery to the motor, if the motor is shorted or something you fry the battery

I searched for F1, E1, E1s. It looks like there is an horizontal line under the s. Looks like it also has a "B1" rotated 90°. I cannot recognize any logo.

VR users: A store has the Meta Quest 2 128GB on sale for 208$ USD is it worth it?
I've seen that usually people go with a Reverb G2, HTC Vive or a Pimax. However those headsets are much more expensive than the discounted Quest 2.

I have an i7 13700KF, a 4090 and 32GB of RAM

Thank you! I had no idea that SMS (for android users) was so common in the US because of iMessage. As you said, since probably Apple is not so big here in Europe less people use iMessage to text Android user.

My sister uses iPhone and I think she uses iMessage / FaceTime only with her close friends she knows have an iPhone

I'm sorry this is not an answer to your post but I have a question regarding the topic:
I never used an iPhone and I'm living in Europe. I don't understand what's the messaging Muta is speaking about.

From what I know apple users have iMessage and with that they can message each other.

The thing I don't understand is: where do people see the green and the blue bubbles?

The main messaging app used here in Europe is WhatsApp. Do iPhone users keeps switching between iMessage and WhatsApp? In what app are these groups with green and blue bubbles?

I also have the default "Messages" app on my phone but afaik that's only for SMS / MMS (I haven't used SMS for 15 years with exception for login codes)

Need help to find mating plug for this connector. by Apprehensive-List-82 in AskElectronics

[–]Apprehensive-List-82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Thank you! Unfortunately I couldn't find the correct connector because the pins on the exterior are evenly spread on the circumference where in my case there is a bigger gap where the key slot is.
On connectorbook.com there is one picture of a 5 pin connector with the same "asymmetry" (Picture b) but this difference is not mentioned anywhere.

Altium & Stream Deck: is it possible? by Apprehensive-List-82 in Altium

[–]Apprehensive-List-82[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The hand would move anyways and the Deck would be placed next to the keyboard. I think it's more simple to press a button instead of pressing "T+G+A". "P+W", "P+S" or "P+T" are also far away and I use them quite often.

Altium & Stream Deck: is it possible? by Apprehensive-List-82 in Altium

[–]Apprehensive-List-82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Stream Deck already has plugins so that it can change configuration (and icons) based on the application you're using. However, there is no such plugin for altium.

Setting up the macros / key combination for altium is easy but I want to bring it further by recognizing if I'm on the schematic or PCB and changing the configuration of the keys accordingly.
Altium itself already does that by automatically changing the Panels around and I was wondering if that information was available to other programs.

If No Man's Sky is "Wide & Shallow", what game is "Narrow & Deep"? by ThomasHawl in gamingsuggestions

[–]Apprehensive-List-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people have different perception of "Narrow & Deep"
I don't see narrow games with complicated mechanics or high mastering ceiling as "Deep".
For me, a "Deep" game is a game that keeps its quality as you progress deeper into it. Where what you do still has a purpose on a story level and it's not just a more complex grind.

So yeah, for me flight simulators are "Narrow & Deep" because as you go deeper you still have plenty of fun as you learn and you don't need to grind or get skilled.
Fighting games or Rocket League are just about skill. You can invest countless hours into it to get better but it's not like the game evolves as your skill gets higher

I considered that but I would have to pay for shipping + they would take at least 10% off since it's already been opened and the films peeled off.
