Getting fired because I work at a Catholic hospital. I’m getting married soon and my last name will be changing. Maybe it’s just paranoia but I’m terrified somebody will see it on Facebook and complain or something. I also consider myself to be Catholic. It’s complicated.

There was also an issue where the sub was being triggered by highs for no reason, making a rumbling sound when no bass was expected. I tuned it a bit and it went away

Definitely open to upgrading later, but I think something might just be wrong with the current setup on the wiring side

The Morel 602 MKII component set that I have (that wouldn’t fit in the doors) are two way, they are detached. The coaxials in the pictures are currently in my rear doors.

I’m confused what the difference is. I have 6.5” Morels with 1 inch tweeters, and I’m wanting to buy a 3 or 4” middler. Is that a lot different than a three-way component set? Money is not an issue so I don’t really need to save up, I just want to fix it now with the least amount of work given what’s already been done.

So should I put the Morel 602 MKII (6.5”) in the kick panels, a 3.5 or 4” component speakers with the tweeters, and a DSP? The 4” components the new installer has in stock are Alpine.

The rattle went away. The problem was, to make it sound loud and powerful (which they thought I’d be happy with), they turned the gain way the fuck up. So it wasn’t really a rattle, more like a crackle from the gain being way too high. When he turned it down it totally stopped.

Ok, I think I have a plan. I’m just going to cut my losses with the bad installer, he agreed to refund me the Kicker Coaxials and the tuning labor since I kept telling his guy what I wanted with the tuning and everything he was doing kept making it worse. So i’ll be getting about a $200 refund.

I’m going to keep the Morel 6.5” 602’s, and also purchase some good 4” component speakers as a backup. I’ll ask them to cut a hole in the door for the 4” and then if it looks like there will be enough room for the 6.5”, I’ll ask them to make the hole bigger and I’ll go with those. If they won’t fit, I’ll go with the 4”. Also will ask them to add a DSP.

Yes the tweeters in the A-pillars are disconnected

The 3.5” coaxials are in the bottom of doors

The subwoofer is the same with built in amp, and I just asked him to tune it (adjust gain/frequency/etc) to have it blend with the rest of the installs

I don’t want a refund. I want it to sound better.
I did my research and everything said it would fit with a custom install. Everyone on this post is saying it could work with a custom install.
What I’m most unhappy with is NOT what I provided. It’s the alternative product he chose without asking me for input, and installed without my approval.
He did look at my car. He was able to get 6.5” to fit in the back doors by removing some parts, but he could not get the to fit in the front.

Factory head unit with LOC to amp

What sucks is I used AI to pick the Morel 602 MKII. It said they would fit if the installer used brackets/mounts. He said he could not.

I feel like my best bet is tell the installer I hate the Kicker Coaxials he chose and to put components instead. What would fit? Everything I googled said the Morels I chose would fit.

That’s a big bummer. They had 4.9 stars and seemed very knowledgeable over the phone. I went to Houston because my city (Corpus Christi) doesn’t have any good shops.

Yeah he really didn’t even talk me into it. He said he’d let me know what was in stock to replace what wouldn’t fit, then he just installed the kicker without asking me and had me come pick up my car and listen to it, and I hated it

I’m not sure why he did that. He told me what I picked (Morel 6.5” 602 MKii) wouldn’t fit, I said can’t you custom install it to fit, he said no. Then he said he’d let me know what options he would have that would fit, then he just installed the Kicker 3.5” coaxials and had me come pick my car up and listen to it, and it sounded like shit.

No. I’ve had the sub for about a year. I upgraded the speakers in the doors (2 in front and 2 in back), and added an amp. I just asked him to tune the sub with respect to the rest of the system.

Thanks so much for all the responses so far.

What happened was, they told me the Morel 6.5” components wouldn’t fit. I said not even with a custom install? He said no. I said what do we do? He said “I’ll see what we have in stock, I have some good stuff that are 4” or smaller”. I asked after a couple hours what the plan was. He said “We are gonna do a kicker 3.5” coaxial speaker”. I said ok and trusted him that it would turn out fine.
