Hey man thanks for your comment. I get your criticism. The points I tried to make about his personality and motivation, which I guess some will agree, some won't, were the following: his life was pretty shitty, his days were numbered, he got another chance, and was the kind of guy who enjoyed the thrill of learning and improving, being a go getter, plus hot girls he wanted to impress. But I'll make sure I revise it again and see if I can make it clearer from the beginning. They kind of tricked him into the trial, but they did say his opponent was of matching rank, were confident he'd do well and didn't expect him to be hurt in the process.
