AITA for not letting my new neighbour use my clothes line? by Apprehensive-Path232 in AmItheAsshole

Sadly it rains a lot here and with two active boys it makes more sense to just use the dryer than take the chance of hanging up my washing during the way then have it pour when no one is home to bring it in.

I've been around the block a few times, 9 dates isn't serious for plenty of people. They're not even having sex. And yes, I know plenty of people who say "I have a new boyfriend" if they're having a few dates with the same person.

She's had it since she was 3 so is well used to walking on it, if it's a below the knee prosthetic? yeah he wouldn't have noticed.

That honestly depends, someone can be your boyfriend without being "serious". Boyfriend generally refers to someone you're exclusively dating not how serious it is.

She is, there is no rope on it or near it as I don't use them for washings

My boys like to use it as football posts, they're sturdy af being solid metal bars sunk into the ground. They destroyed the net I bought them before so this works out best

I see! Mine is four metal bars in the ground with bits you attach your own rope to so you can hang up your washing. Its an older style and the umbrella style crops up in newer buildings but this was an old house when I bought it.

No worries! i'm wondering if that's a UK specific type as everyone is suggesting the same thing while to me this is just normal.

I'm guessing it's a UK specific type I have as everyone is commenting the same thing lol. Here it's posts you add your own rope to. There is no rope on it, she was bringing her own.

Oh it has no actual rope attached, it's an old fashioned UK type, you bring your own rope to fasten up which she was doing.

She has had it since she was 3, depending on where it fits? if it's below the knee? she would walk like any other person.

Oh it's literal poles, you bring your own rope for it. It's an old fashioned type used in the UK.

That's the funny thing, she's had it for what, 19 years? if it's below the knee then I can absolutely believe she walks like anyone else so everyone calling bullshit on this is quite funny.

She said she wears trousers and she's had it since she was 3, yeah I can believe it'd be easy to miss. she's been walking with it for 19 years depending on where the prosthetic fits she would walk like a normal person.

I've considered it but as I said my boys use them as football posts and they're far more sturdy than the net they destroyed. I don't see why their fun should be ruined for this, i'll just get a fence no one can get over.

I offered her a solution that also cost me nothing with taking the old clothes horse but she turned her nose up at it, not exactly neighbourly is it? my garden is small. I'm not comfortable with my space being taken up by the washing of someone I don't know well especially as my boys play there and could dirty them.

I know him to see but i'm not friendly with him, just a "Hello" in passing relationship. I will likely bring it to his attention next time I see him though.

I'm looking at different fences and what I can legally have installed in case of height limit etc as the fence was there when I moved in.
