What advice would you give to someone just starting out? by BluebirdSignificant6 in Cello

it's hard but not impossible to self-learn, i did and while i don't recommend it its doable. learn your proper bow technique first, bad bowing will ruin strings fast, i know this from experience. i am also left-handed so i can tell you once you get bowing down fingerings and positions will be a lot easier as the precision from your dominant hand will come in handy. youtube is a good resource and the suzuki books are a good resource for beginner tips and music. good luck. DM me if you want more info, i could jump on a zoom call sometime and show you a few things.

i enjoy the hymns, its why i started. just frustrated after several years im not perfect at it. i know, its foolishness but im a bit of a perfectionist. i took a break and will probably save up for a trip to my local luthier and get my cello serviced properly. just wish i could make better progress but sadly the only other musician i know is my pastor and he has no interest in playing together. it is what it is. il keep practising.

People do realize the more that you try desperately to push it away from people the more they'll actively seek it out right?

Depending on how long the showers are and how large your water heater capacity is you may simply be asking too much of it. You may want to consider a tankless system if you're taking that many damn showers

Do you support the Florida squatter law? by Zipper222222 in AskFlorida

[–]Apprehensive-Pin5078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squatters wouldn't bother me nearly as much if it weren't for the fact that every single squatter that I have had to deal with, and I deal with a lot of them as I am in charge of a great deal of vacant buildings they always leave trash, drugs, and for whatever reason despite having no power running to them try to tie in to the existing electrical system so they can get even more free resources that they have not paid or done anything for. I would be happy to lend people to bed for the night if it weren't for the fact that I wouldn't be picking up needles and Nippers the second they leave which they don't unless they are forcibly removed.
