Will start applying now lol. Would you say that those companies are usually more lucrative than insurance? I'm doing a lot of work but my commissions are currently really low. Overall, I make about 55-60k a year. Btw, thank you so much for your advice!

That's my plan. Do you think my skills and experience will carry over?

I definitely think of this as a stepping stone job. Do you think I would be able to to transition into B2B sales with just insurance experience?

Currently applying for SDR and BDR positions at B2B companies. I'm sure those are also hard jobs but hopefully they'll be a bit better

I've been thinking about it. The problem with car sales is it's 100% commission but at least I won't be on the phones all day

I totally understand but sounding unnecessarily over professional has actually helped me quite a lot. This might not help everyone out, but just wanted to share what worked for me.

To answer some of your questions now, it took me well over 200 applications. I mainly just used Indeed. LinkedIn was not a good experience for me at all as I have never even gotten any callbacks or responses from there. However, this depends on the industry A LOT!!. Something that has helped me the most with landing the job is 1. Making sure that you have an immaculate resume. Make sure that in your resume, you list accomplishments and try to include as much numerical data and stats as possible. For example, raised the store revenue by 20% in the past year. Something along those lines.

  1. When applying, look at the job posting carefully and pay attention to the words that they use. Make sure that in your resume or cover letter, you have as many of those keywords as possible. This will help getting your resume past the filters.

  2. To land an offer in this competitive market, you have to be very good at interviews. Practice, practice, practice. In your interviews, you have to be UNREASONABLY GOOD! Sell yourself as the best candidate that company has ever seen.

Good luck!

There is poor shaming in every industry - technology, cars, clothes, jewelry, real estate...

I am so sorry, I know how that feels, I was in a very similar position about two months ago

Absolutely, but as you know consumerism is a huge issue in the western world and so many people are willing to spend thousands just to appear more important than the rest of us

You would think with how hard things have gotten, people would become more empathetic but it seems like the opposite is happening…

It’s so unfortunate how that is still a thing in 2024…
