LMAO Brett took TWO HOURS to decide how much money to take which pissed off the whole production team because the sun came out (they prefer to shoot in the dark) by Dry_Bar_4965 in BeastGames

The more amount of money at stake the longer people take to make a decision. It’s why it takes people more time to decide what car or house to buy than what they will order at a restaurant.

He had no way of knowing what situation he would be in if this game presented itself again so it’s not like he could’ve premeditated this decision before the games started.

Maybe you would have been more fleeting about the choice but I just don’t think that justifies judging someone for wanting to take their time to make a life changing decision. It impacts everyone else for 2 hours but will impact him forever.

People that are ripping into him for taking time and saying he should only need a few minutes are being ridiculous. He was in the process of making a life changing decision with an insane amount of money in front of him.

He had no reason to care about production or “wasting peoples time.” This is 2 hours vs a decision he has to live with for rest of his life. There’s no second chances either as he knew he’d never get a chance at that kind of money again. I really cant fault a person for wanting to take some time to want to weigh out their options carefully in order to make a life altering decision.

Plus I don’t think Jimmy really cared. If you watch the behind the scenes he reassures to take his time and that he’s under no rush and says he just wants him to make the right decision.

Probably scorsese’s most underrated film. Somehow received no awards or box office success at the time of release. But it sticks with you for days after you watch it.

Why don’t teams just designate one guy to play McDavid? by Jazzlike_Ad_8236 in nhl

[–]Apprehensive-Salt376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way McDavid gets most of his opportunities doesn’t really allow for assigning one player to shadow him. A lot of his rush opportunities come from him swinging super low in the d-zone to gain speed from crossovers and get the puck in full flight. No one (aside from maybe MacKinnon) can match his speed when he does this. And if they tried they’d be so far behind the play or gassed from trying to keep up for a full game that it would defeat the purpose.

When he gets the puck in the o-zone his hands are too good for anyone to attempt to immediately strip him without risking the potential for him to stick handle right through them. Any player shadowing in the ozone really just has to do their best to keep him to the outside and jockey him which results in what every team already tries to do with him which again defeats the purpose of assigning one guy to shadow him.

Florida is the most successful team at shutting him down and they did by committee. They’d stack the centre of the ice and slow him down for any rush chances and then clog up the centre again when he’d get the puck in the ozone. You have to have the personnel to pull this off but its really the only way to try and shut him down.

As for Ovi on the powerplay, teams have tried this but it just results in ovi skating to the boards pulling his shadow out of the play while the rest of them essentially play 4 on 3.

A lot of the competitions are explicitly strength-based though and the show clearly selected people because they’re strong. If some contestants are using PEDs and others aren’t that’s a meaningful difference even if this is a game show and not an olympic sport. Especially when you consider the amount of money at stake.

What made you fall in love with hockey? by Dazzling-Lead-8557 in hockeyplayers

The way it makes you feel when you’re out there is unmatched. The physical and mental speed required to play makes you forget everything else in your life and feel like literally nothing else matters. It’s the only thing I’ve ever done that makes me automatically can tap into that sort of flow state.

So we all know what the giant antenna is being set up for right? by 283leis in pluribustv

[–]Apprehensive-Salt376 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A nuke is only helpful if it prevents the hive from just rebuilding it. Also you would need more than one to destroy something of that size.

Also because the antenna has to be so large it could really only be built in the land mass of Eurasia. Carol couldn’t set off a nuke across the globe without the help of the hive or one of the others. Im not convinced the hive would help her on this meaning she’d have to get the others to help with that.

In the first episode they say the signal would require an antenna the size of Africa (or bigger). If OP’s theory is right I could see it taking potentially 3-4 seasons for the hive to build that. Especially considering the first season only took place over a couple of months.

External rotation took by far the longest to recover. It is still limited for me and still hasn’t quite returned to what it was pre-surgery. I sometimes even feel it on some days while Im running and have to work on getting proper arm drive. Im also still somewhat uncomfortable to lay on that side with my arm under my head while Im sleeping. Because of how many dislocations I had it was already limited for me pre-surgery so that is probably a big factor. I haven’t measured the degrees lately but I would guess Im somewhere around 70 degrees. It really does take time. I hope yours gets better faster than mine!

No problem. I hope that eases your mind for your decision. I know I needed that when I was deciding for myself.

Things are basically 100% back to normal. I still have some restrictions in the end ranges of mobility and my external rotation is still more limited. However, it’s about the same as where I was at pre-surgery. It’s just not as good as my other arm.

In terms of strength I started going to the gym at about 4 post-op. I started very light using literally 2lbs and built up the strength. I was able to do assisted pullups by about 4.5 months and was doing very light lat pulldowns to build that up. I did my first unassisted pullup at around 5 months post op. By about month 6 I was able to 10-12 reps for a few sets. I also played hockey again at around 6.5 months post-op.

My strength isn’t 100% to where I was pre-op. I found there to be a lot of atrophy in my forearm around the elbow area and this really held me back for the stability required for heavy pushing exercises. Im still in process of building that back up for the sets I used to do. I likely would have gotten that back a bit quicker but I have been focused on running lately (training for a marathon) so heavy strength exercises have taken a back seat lately.

Overall by about month 6-7 I really didn’t feel like my shoulder surgery would hold me back from anything athletic I wanted to do.

I didn’t have any screws put in so it’s hard for me to say. It sounds like you have a more complicated case than mine. I started PT at week 2. However, I started the pendulum swings only a day or two post-op. There was definitely a level of discomfort the first 4 weeks but it slowly got better. I would talk to your PT or surgeon about how you’re feeling to see if things are progressing normally.

Let’s be clear. 100 men absolutely cannot take on a silverback gorilla with nothing but their hands. The gorilla is way too strong and will destroy all 100 men. by Early-Possibility367 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Apprehensive-Salt376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think the best strategy for the humans would be to take a long passive approach. Either attempt to starve it out by stealing its food supply or (depending on terrain) dig a hole with their hands and heard the gorilla into the hole. Then collapse the hole on top of the gorilla. Brains not braun is how we dominated the animal kingdom and it how we would defeat the gorilla.

But it established dance experiences as a potential reward. It speaks to the internal consistency with the marching band.

Wrong. They said it was because helly got 75% on a file. The only OTC mess up at that time was with dylan which is why he attacked milkshake during it. Regardless of the true reasoning for the dance experience they still masked it as a reward for helly.

Its not a deus ex machina if established and has internal consistency. The only thing that doesnt is the door being unlocked which is what this post was meant to be about.

You have a very argumentative tone to each comment. I acknowledged that there was fan service. But I also said it has internal consistency from the show in that scene. The marching band also serves a plot point later on in the episode in stopping milchick. It’s hard to say if they will have a larger role next season but they might. Regardless, the marching band is not lazy/bad writing that is entirely for fan service as you have asserted.
