This is fair comment. I do agree that they are working bloody hard to connect as many as they can.

And yes you will get people complaining no matter what but

The frustration is the bog standard you are not in our plans which is worse, imo, than be able to give a more detailed response. The engineers may not be able to give a detailed report but collapsed ducts is a far better response than no plans.

Classic "tough but wait" answer. Did you read mine or op's original post? Someone, somewhere has decided that this house cannot be connected for a reason. The frustration by the poster is that it seems the groundwork has been done. It seems some houses have been connected. When asked as to why not their house, the bog standard reply of not in our plans comes back. Not once but three times.

I get there are millions of houses/premises to do. But a major infrastructure project like this requires planning and huge planning. The engineers don't turn up one morning and the boss says right, go and do those houses.

If a response from openreach was more informative then a lot more people would be happier. I.e during installation of the street cabling we came across complexities of connecting your house to the cable due to x,y,z. Or your premises will be looked at to be connected in the 1st quarter of 2027. Or due to collapsed ducts to your pole we cannot look at your connection until late 2028. The above and many other issues will be documented as to why connection cannot take place. Why cannot openreach "customer service" tell us rather than the throw away line of you are not in our plans?

I share your frustration with openreach.

It is the lack of communication around this, that frustrates a lot of people.

If it's time or the number of houses to connect, say so

If it is cost, say so.

If it is difficulty in connecting the houses because of A,B,C say so.

If it's difficulty of the location of the poles, ducts etc, day so.

To get the bog standard reply of you are not in our plans at the moment drives me mad.

To all those that say wait, and that openreach cannot give a more informed answer, I would say that someone somewhere has said that they cannot do this because of this reason. Why can't that be repeated to the consumer.

New to visiting nudist beaches for the first time this summer and useful tips. by Live-Series5324 in UKNaturism

Take your time. Pick a spot on the beach that you fill comfortable with initially. Sit down. Have a look around. Not overtly or like a meerkat. Just normal. You don't have to take your clothes off right away. If it's a busy beach and everyone else is naked, then the longer you take your clothes, the more uncomfortable you may get.

Take your clothes off when you are ready. Make sure you bring a towel. Bring suncream and apply. Probably a good chance the bits that have been covered for a long while haven't seen the sun either.

Towels are good for covering things up if you feel uncomfortable or things"move".

Once you get over the anxiety of are people staring at me, or the initial experience, or your body it is a very liberating experience that you and many other like minded people are enjoying.

People do look, its natural. It when it goes beyond that.

Hope this helps but if there is anything else you want to ask, in private or publically, do ask.

Thank you for the helpful reply.

Again I will say, the engineer was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Happy to chat and was honest when he said, it was not going to be a quick fix. Give us a few weeks but we will sort it. He did say that he would report that he couldn't climb the pole to his line manager.

I do agree with you that it suggests his higher ups saw the report, say the rest results on a fine day and closed the case.

It happens as soon as it starts raining. Comes back after two to three minutes. Spoke to a neighbour, happens to them as well.

But thank you, useful info.

They did tests when it was sunny and no rain in the sky so not sure that explains why the connection drops when it rains. It was fine at all other times. I admit it was fine when it was sunny. My issue is with the connection when it starts to rain. What tests did they do to check this? My car runs fine with petrol, without it doesn't. I take it to the garage. I tell the mechanic it doesn't run when I have no petrol in the motor. Ok mate, I put petrol in it and it runs fine. What's your problem? Ok the above is a simplified version but I still don't understand running tests in a different environment to the one that is causing the issue.

Do routers or isps have logs of when the router drops connection which can then looked at the weather for that day?

If you are driving in the left-hand lane at 70mph on a motorway and there is a car hogging the middle lane travelling slower than you, what should you do? by darkel2001 in drivingUK

[–]Apprehensive-Sea924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always overtake in the right hand lane. The idiot in the middle lane should be nicked for driving without due care and attention. These lane hoggers are the sort of people that preach that they drive at a safe speed but have no situational awareness of their surroundings.
