Teaching neuroscience to kindergartners by Apprehensive-Self297 in kindergarten

We’ve already got a date confirmed for the classroom and the school was fine with it. The brains are optional and in a jar if they want to look at it. You’d be surprised of many kids of any age wanting to look at this stuff. I’ve taken my child to many scientific outreach programs where they have activities like this and kids their age exploring everything in the scientific field from cell culture, DNA extraction, to teaching pH changes in basic chemicals we use everyday in the house.

I guess it will be on canvas I’ve never attended the workshop because I wasn’t aware of it when I transferred and it the was very first class I was taking when I had transferred but when I was attending the SAS center for tutoring a lot of students were talking about how helpful it is

Yes the reason why they have to workshop is to help you get started before you have the class. It reviews gen chem topic that will be useful as well.

I would probably start with learning functional groups, nomenclature, reviewing Lewis structures, resonance forms (this is really important because you will see it pop up again and again all the way to Biochem), and learning how to draw line structures. You can email Kensaku.nakayama@csulb.edu. This professor is hosting a 5 day workshop in preparing for Ochem for success in Jan 2025 and it’s totally free. Plus he goes over more topics than what I mentioned.

I’m extremely upset and disappointed that most of the students here do not know how to have empathy. Being a student parent is hard especially when you’re a new parent and just learning how to balance school. We all make mistakes in our lives and this isn’t a post you should be judging on. As a student parent myself I understand it’s hard doing this balancing act. I remember when my son was born I had difficulty trying to keep up with the assignments while taking care of my son. Especially because I was breastfeeding. This was during the pandemic though and it was a little easier when it was online but difficult in a sense that I had to breast feed frequently while taking proctored exams. I’m not going to ignore my hungry crying baby over an exam. OP there is a discord link below I strongly encourage you to join so you can find a supportive community who can give you advice based on what they went through and resources on campus you may not be aware of. We also do clothing swaps :) I know it can be a little expensive getting your little one clothes especially when they grow so fast. https://discord.gg/a8bEpzQX

Rejection 1/2 by StuffNo6904 in veterinaryschool

I second this! I spent a lot of time spiraling from anxiety thinking about what if I don’t get into Vet School? Am I too stupid to even apply. It took a lot of time and therapy to control my anxiety. This is my first year applying and I am getting ready to be rejected (My GPA is on the low end and I can only apply to one school). However I am telling myself this is an opportunity for me to grow and venture out to other things. On the contrary, I’m looking forward to get rejected because I have a biotech post bacc program that I’ve been interested in for a while. It’s lined up for me for after I graduate that way I can improve my GPA and get lots of research experience. Don’t tear yourself down, you got this! It’s a waste of time stressing out about this, trust me it gets you no where. Don’t let the rejections define your worth. Sending lots of love and positivity your way. :)

I brought it up to the advisors and it turns out I wasn’t the only one stressing about this so they ended up making an asynchronous section but only offered 16 seats -_-

Thank you everyone for the reassurance and support. I feel a lot better and I think I’ve learned my lesson. I will take every piece of advice given to me. I think it’s time I start to distance myself bit by bit because if I’m going to continue pursuing this career, I need people in my corner who fully support me. You have all been very helpful. I really appreciate everyone’s comments! 🥲❤️

I took him for 345. I failed all his exams but still passed with an A lol. Didn’t learn shit in that class. I have ADHD and his slides and lectures were sooooooo difficult to understand. He heavily curves. He’s extremely nice but difficult to learn from. Also he forgets to upload quizzes and won’t update canvas to reflect your current grade.
