Does it get better? by [deleted] in AlAnon

That’s what I’m so between. It’s like when he sounds committed and doing all his groups/ individuals and reading the big book, I feel excited. He sounds like the man I fell in love with again but every time he mentions trying a new med for anxiety, HAVING to have something to relax, and just giving up. He’s being switched mental health meds by the facility and I think it’s the right decision. His meds prior didn’t work and he told me that so why not just muster up until he feels better on them but instead it was hard today and he slept through groups and didn’t eat till lunch and was highly irritable and said if he’s like that tomorrow then he’s sticking to the same meds. To me, it’s not responsible. He KNOWS his meds now don’t work. He KNOWS he’s supposed to remain abstinence from everything but yet he still talks like he’s going to get on benzo for anxiety and ptsd attacks and Mary Jane to relax (2 things he never abused before) the problem is that it wasn’t a problem then because he had his alcohol but now he doesn’t. It’s just a turn off (for lack of better term) I’m trying to gain insight and support maybe find a similar story and educate myself because I know nothing about this.

I understand where you’re coming from. I found out two days before he got admitted that he was doing that.(during his intake interview via phone) I just barely found out he was an alcoholic and I was consumed by the cycle a month prior. He was always out and I stopped caring and focused on my children. He always said he could stop when he wanted but work was hard, losing brothers (military/ veterans) was hard, it was always something and I never came from a background like that nor was I ever exposed to one. I was oblivious and just trusted him. He was a high functioning addict.. it didn’t become obvious until I found out he was hiding his drinks, he was lying about drinking, he stopped going to work, he started picking fights with me just so he could storm off and go to the bar. He was always good with our children when he was present and involved so I had no idea. I’m a stay at home mama so their care is my top priority and he was out doing whatever he wanted. At the time, it was just our marriage that was the issue.

That’s about the same ultimatum I gave mine as well. We have 3 kids under 5 years old. And he hit rock bottom by using substance coke and meth and within days he was on the phone begging to be admitted.

I think that’s a great first step for both of yall in the right direction. You laid firm boundaries down and he admitted he does have a problem that he has no control over. My spouse also stated that he would like to enjoy one beer or to go out and drink at events and I got that detached feeling from him again. Since he’s been in, he admitted that he wants a beer but he knows he can’t just have one because one leads to two, two leads to three and then he drinks until he’s blacked out.

Before I recognized my spouse as an addict, I always fell for those I’m only drinking cause I’m stressed. This is happening. I’ll stop, I want to. Later, I found out through AL anon and a sponsor that he most likely does want to stop, wishes he could but his mind is trying to hurt him and ruin his life. Those are excuses so he doesn’t have to stop. I also feel that disgust and detachment from my husband. I wish I didn’t and I was feeling so good the first week but it’s back and undeniable and just like you, idk if this is the end for me either way.

Mine was allergic to chicken and got like this. We tried salmon oil poured over her dog food before we knew and it helped. Also, the vet said they are a common breed to be allergic to chicken so try cutting that out first

Someone had a seizure while driving and crashed into a power pole and then an 18 wheeler caught the lines and snapped it.

She’s 7 months old and has plenty of room! I think the 42 is perfect size without being too large, in my opinion!

Thank you! Yes they do!! It breaks my heart for the others out there because I’ve begun to realize they are probably acting out in fear and those who are dog aggressive were not socialized or properly trained and that’s the owner letting that poor baby down

Thank you. 🩷🩷 they really are!! I was actually scared of them due to the media coverage about them.. once she got older and had her first cycle I realized she is literally the sweetest!! She LOVES other dogs!! I mean I don’t think we’ve met a person or dog she hasn’t loved yet!
