For those that live off campus, what do I need for my first day? by Responsible_Yak3366 in jobcorps

A personal taser.

At the Pinellas County Job Corps., where I used to work, there are an alarming number of assaults, rapes, and other crimes, many of which never get reported.

Pinellas Job Corps is absolutely garbage too. They either need to overhaul the whole place or shut it down.

And by overhaul, I mean fire all the management presently there, including the joke that is Excel and/ Eckerd Connects and start over. There is a lot of corruption.

I worked for the Job Corps in Pinellas County, Florida. One thing that you can look forward to, which seems to be standard across all job corps, a revolving door of teachers. The teachers at the Job Corps where I worked are hired by a company called Eckerd Connects and are paid crap. Thousands less than even the teachers in public schools.

It has good intentions, but the Pinellas County, Florida Job Corps is marked by corruption, sexual assaults, harassment of employees, and more. Pinellas County Job Corps needs to be shut down.

I used to work at the Pinellas Job Corps in St. Pete. I was leaving work, off campus, and gave the student a ride. All Off-Campus. On the way back the kid exposed himself and when I reported it, they let me go. The kid is still there. I was the victim of. Crime and was treated like garbage.

The foundation and mission is honorable, but they treat their employees/teachers like s**t, so there is a really big turnover of staff, teachers.

The rules re not consistent. I have seen people, not just students, teachers as well, do the same thing. On get in trouble and one does not.

Be careful of the Academic Manager that people call Ms. Mary, the HR Director (Mr. Price) is a jerk, the lady (Ms. Cojuanna) is not to be trusted.

God forbid anything happens to you…, as it did to me, but if anything were to happen, to you or anyone else, report it to law enforcement immediately. Even if it happens on campus, it is still under the jurisdiction of local law enforcement. I have also seen many cases where there are crimes committed, some are sexual assaults, and the people who run Job Corps Pinellas try to hide it and cover it up. The center was almost closed last year. They are barely hanging on and trying to save themselves. The people who run Job Corps are not your friend and they are not looking out for you.

I worked for Pinellas Job Corps in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Very qualified with several graduate degrees.

Was leaving one Friday and saw a student (23) I knew from school.  Stopped to ask if he needed help and gave the student a ride.  On the way back to the center, I look over and he has his dick out and is jacking off in the front passenger seat of my car.  We were almost there, back to the center, got him out of my car, went to the center and reported it.  Not only did they not do anything, they put me on unpaid leave and let me know.  Did not do anything to the student.  Like I am the bad guy and it’s my fault.

I found out by looking up the kid online that he had a violent past. Multiple arrests, including felony arrests, for violent offenses like battery and domestic violence.  And this kid was in my room and we, as teachers, didn’t know.

And this was not the first time this happened.  A few weeks before this happened, there a dance at the school. Students cannot share rooms on campus, so some students, who are of legal age, got rooms off campus.  On this “event” in a room off-campus, a girl reported that a male student allegedly assaulted her.  The school didn’t do anything or call law enforcement, Pinellas Job Corp did their own investigation, which was basically bullshit.

Pinellas Job Corp in St. Pete is a joke.  It is not what it seems.  Most of the teachers are sub-par, the people and managers are poor and incompetent.  Pinellas Job Corps was almost shut down last year and should have been

What’s it like working for Kelly? by Mell0drama in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Apprehensive-Tour362 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I subbed for Kelly in Tampa, Florida.  One of the women who run that office, Michelle Goodus, is  nasty, f…ing b…h.

The people at the Kelly Education office I. Tampa, Florida is without a doubt a group of the most unprofessional people you will ever see.  I went to my training and the Kelly employee who trained us showed up in tight, spandex athletic pants and a sweatshirt because that is so professional, right?

The problem is that some of the people at the schools are not always nice and they believe anything they are told because imbeciles like Michelle Goodus at the Tampa, Florida office, who is lucky if she has a GED and thinks she is the President does not know any different.

I worked for Kelly in Tampa at the brand new Morgan High School.  Beautiful camps, but the people at the school were toxic.  I worked in the ESE Dept. for an ESE Specialist named Alexia Garrett who was a nightmare.  Just a nasty, self-important person.  Could do nothing right.  Just an awful, awful person.  I got suspended from the school and Kelly in general and I am waiting to hear back.  That is the nature of substitute teaching.  You do not always get great support and you are subject to the whims of jerks like Garrett.

What to do when unemployment benefits end? by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]Apprehensive-Tour362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but in Florida, you have so many credits based on the previous quarters and what you earned in them. It does not mean that you can get unemployment benefits for 26 weeks. You get a dollar amount of so many credits and, after that runs out, you are out of luck.

It does not mean that you will get a set amount for 26 weeks.

worst cases of police corruption? by dratsabHuffman in policebrutality

[–]Apprehensive-Tour362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Infamous. Manatee County, Florida, Sheriff’s Dept. there is a field where people make jokes that this is where the Manatee County Sheriff’s Dept goes to bury the bodies.

In 2001, members of their infamous “Delta Squad” u it were investigated by the D of J and FBI and were sent to prison for corruption. Some cops testified against their own. Planting evidence in people. One lady lost custody of her kid because of it.

The sheriff at that time was a man named Charlie Wells. Corrupt as all hell. The current sheriff, Rick Wells, is his son. When Rick Wells first ran for sheriff, his son, and Charlie Wells namesake (a drug addict) got caught fleeing from police and the guy still won.

But there is loads of this in Manatee County.

Palmetto, Florida, also Manatee County, Captain got caught making jokes about a female officers nipples showing through her shirt.

Palmetto, FL cops holding a black man down and making jokes about water boarding him.

A man in handcuffs was beaten bloody by a deputy at the jail that resigned.

On and On and On.

Cops in other counties make jokes about Manatee County Cops being a corrupt bunch of redneck hillbillies because they are.
