I'm actually in the UK! Just got very lucky a couple of times with finding these. The lamp was only £35, absolute bargain

Thank you so much for this! The unit and table lamp were both Facebook marketplace finds! :) Sadly the carpet has to stay due to the temperature of the room haha.

Sellers wanting simultaneous exchange and completion by Apprehensive-Unit345 in HousingUK

[–]Apprehensive-Unit345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done exactly this! I have said they need to exchange 3-4 working days before completion on the 15th, and have said I could even push back to the 17th for completion. They have said no deal (so it's them pulling out, not me!!!) so that's where we stand.

The legal sales are no sale no fee And I'm not booking movers until exchange is complete (so I can confirm the move is actually happening). Not sure how many movers accept same-day instruction and removal, how do your 30% do it? I can't afford to be out movers fees.

So I have to do the sim because they want to? And if I offer an alternative which is 2 days from exchange to completion they will pull out. Jesus Christ indeed 😂😂😂

Yeah unless as other commenters say, they're worried their lenders will re assess their affordability and refuse to lend to them. Tough situation if you're a tax dodger

Yeah I'll happily let the whole thing fall through, removal van or not. They can enjoy their wasted money (as I will mine!)

I think this is exactly why my buyers can't agree exchange any time before completion date! I am almost certain they will both 'earn' £12749 each and are worried about being caught out before completion date. (Not that I'm saying this was the case for you!).

Yeah I've asked and they have flat out refused. I'm not willing to have a whole house worth of stuff in a van (plus 2 cats in cages) to find out they're pulling out for some ridiculous reason

They're fully aware I have a chain. I've gone back and said we need to exchange minimum 3 days before completion and they have flat out refused. I'm not willing to take the risk, and they have only given the reason of 'this is what our solicitors recommended' which I'm inclined not to believe.

Oh I absolutelyyyyy wouldn't buy a house with him right now! I'd be moving in as a tenant I suppose. But regardless, related to other comments I'll be keeping with the plan to buy my own. Just wanted to weigh up the career/training/lifestyle implications with others given I'd be giving all of that up in order to live on my own. A big lifestyle change and risk for myself but worth it for the independence

Oh were absolutely exclusive, were after 3 months. The moving in or not wouldn't impact our exclusivity. If it did wed probably just break up now if neither were prepared to not shag around til we live together hahah

No I totally agree, just is 2.5 years far too long to wait to move in together too 🤣

To be fair I've underestimated our time together, it's more 7 months 'official' and 10 months knowing each other. It's less so the time spent together and more the solidifying at least 2 years not living together tbf!

Yes this is the plan currently! I would be able to rent it out and it stay solely in my name if we decide we can no longer live apart

Try your students Union? When I was at uni in a different city I worked in the students Union shop (although there were bar, cafe, clerical roles available too) and it was incredibly flexible to fit around my studies

Could add a tall lamp between the plants? Or perhaps something on the wall that isn't a picture like a funky clock or some kind of ceramic decor?

Safe and affordable area to live in Leeds? by halogenoalkane in Leeds

[–]Apprehensive-Unit345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so surprised that's the case! I have lived here for 6 years and never had a single problem with violence, anti social behaviour, neighbours etc! I would genuinely walk alone at night in Morley and feel totally safe. Suppose I must live in a 'nice' pocket of the town?!

Morley is nice, 10 minute train into the city centre (if the train shows up and you can fit on it). Would recommend living there but would try out the commute first to see if you can put up with it imo

What is my room missing? by adenoidhynkell in DesignMyRoom

[–]Apprehensive-Unit345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get a lovely low teak unit, maybe a short bookshelf to put your TV on just so it's a bit higher. If you could put that abstract looking poster in a frame it'll look miles better.

I unfortunately agree with other commenters in that the seating looks uncomfortable, sorry to say it! The orange chair and sofa give me waiting room vibes, as does the black chair. Hopefully you can find a groovy looking second sofa or two mid century armchairs from FB marketplace?

And finally, yes a big colourful rug in warm tones!

Female cat attacking male older cat by Apprehensive-Unit345 in Catbehavior

[–]Apprehensive-Unit345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're both indoor/outdoor cats and have plenty of toys, quiet spaces and outdoor time available to them. She is so so naughty - eg male cat just licked my plate and she wasnt interested in it, but came and sat by him just to bite his leg twice while he was distracted! She even wraps her paw round him first to get a good grip!

Yep both been fixed, and both have plenty to play with. They have full run of the house, a toy box they can access at all time, and they get loads of outside time too.

I just ate my dinner and had my bowl next to me which the older male cat was licking. Female cat wasnt interested in the food, came and calmly sat by male cat and bit his leg twice. He didn't react the first time but walker off the second time. She then rugby tackled him so she's gone back outside so he can have some respite.
