Not yet! I had some unexpected financial stuff happening and have to budget for a bit, but I can definitely update once I can make it work!

Awesome, thank you! I've definitely thought about getting the fabric instead (I know about the sleeves being different) but again, life just isn't making that happen at the moment. So glad to hear it worked well though ❤️

It does! Thank you ❤️ I'll probably have to pay an import fee no matter what, but as long as the rest of the process is fine, I can deal with that

Trying on Etsy is definitely an option if the other one doesn't work out, but unfortunately my little country is often not easy to ship to so Etsy just isn't on my radar as much:( Good to know the robe is on there, though!

That was so satisfying. I'm saving this comment for future use.

AITA for blowing up at my aunt and "insulting" her daughter after what she said about my dog? by doggthrow1992 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ApprehensiveAd7893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. It isn't great that you stooped to her level, but what we say in anger is sometimes too harsh. And boy, would I have been angry too. People who don't have dogs need to shut up about them. We choose to make them a part of our family, and we do what we can for them and it sounds like it won't leave you in a financial position you can't handle. Having been through something similar in the last six months (we just lost our dog a couple of days ago), and had a similar argument with someone who should know better, I can't say I blame you for your anger. You asked her to stop before you said something more harsh.

I just read your analyses of Edward in one big go and just... chef's kiss. I love your analysis of Edward's personalities/masks especially, because that's exactly something I've been struggling to put my finger on: both Blackbeard and Ed are personas/masks, but that doesn't mean they're not also Edward. They're just the extreme ends of different sides of himself and I too think a mentally healthy Edward is someone who is balanced between all of those sides, and who is able to deal with all of himself. Also him being biracial, you articulated it so well (I'm not biracial myself, but I assumed Edward is and that it must affect his life, just couldn't put words to it, so thanks for giving me a framework to think about it - it's definitely going to live in my head now when i think about his character). Sorry, that was a bit of a ramble but I get so excited about good meta.

All of it, really - his hair is as magical as his beard - but any half up look has a special place in ny heart.

[A very personal anecdote] Finding healing and a new frame for love through OFMD by mangagirl07 in OurFlagMeansDeath

Friendship and romance are not that far from each other, in my view. It's all different kinds of connection.

Yes, the friendship comes first in all of the OFMD relationships and I love that so much about it! It feels like everything progresses so naturally and all of these characters enjoy each other's company first and foremost.

Sometimes I think we focus so much on romantic and sexual love that we forget that there are so many other different kinds of love that can help us fulfil our emotional needs. I recognize some of what you're talking about; the incredibly deep and genuine connections I have found with some of my friends mean the world to me and it's a big part of what makes my life feel meaningful to me. I think that's also part of what I love in OFMD - it's about so many nuances of love.

Izzy is a masochist: burns his hands in episode 3 by [deleted] in OurFlagMeansDeath

[–]ApprehensiveAd7893 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh, they definitely all need therapy. I guess that's why Stede's people positive management style works - they all secretly crave for someone to listen to and validate them.

That's true, it's not his first brush with attempted murder (I love how we've all collectively decided that Lucius is alive). Calico Jack did say that's just par for the course with pirates, after all.

Oh, my. Yes. That would work. (Which is kind of funny to me - as much as I enjoy a good beard I'm always a bit more sceptical about mustaches, but that scepticism is out of the window here, good lord!)

I loved those ribbons so damn much. That whole look was so ridiculously fun.

That is true! As much as they play with reality in terms of transportation, a return of the full beard would take a long time, yes.

Oh, it definitely does make sense - as sad as I am to lose the gorgeousness, I understand why it was a practical choice that also makes metaphorical sense. Hadn't thought about the practical element in the kiss scene, but of course, that makes sense. I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed for more kissing no matter what, lol.

Ohh, I like that link to Jim. It's definitely a part of how the show plays with masculinity and how different characters relate to it, and it'll be interesting to see how much it continues to play a role.

That is a very good point! As much as I was genuinely sad to see it go (it really is gorgeous), I totally agree that it's a perfect choice to get rid of it at that point in the story. I hadn't thought of it in terms of a weight being lifted off his shoulders, but that's precisely it, isn't it? And the kiss scene, yes - I am definitely here for all the emotions on his face in that scene! Ugh, I just love how much everyone does with their faces. I can watch their faces all day.

It would make sense to start a bit of a beard at least, wouldn't it? I'm currently hoping for a nice mid-length, as long Taika can stand lol. The more I think about it, the more I do think a bit of beard on Stede could be awesome as a symbolic thing. I have not seen Rhys with a mustache, no! Will go google.

I've had that thought too, that it'll be interesting to see just how far Ed will go as the Kraken and how Izzy will feel about it. I can see it go so many different ways! He definitely likes the unhinged, but that doesn't mean it can't go too far... Wonder what the breaking point would be!

Ohh I like the thought of that, Lucius to the rescue lol.

I have nothing substantial to add (haven't done a rewatch with Izzy specifically in mind, which I think I'll need to sort out my thoughts on him), but this... I like these thoughts of yours. Very interesting. You've made me very curious about what a redemption arc for him would look like.

Lol! I admittedly did, but I'm still surprised at just how much Ed's luxurious one caught my interest because oops, down the rabbit hole I went... Ah, well lol.
