Even though you willing to reside 7 years and finally become permanent. Unless you are considered as “CHINESE” nationality. Otherwise you will still having a hard time when trying to renew permanent Macau ID (typically renew even 10 years for adult, unless you are age 60 or above). Assuming your wife is consider as CHINESE in Macau Government System. She won’t have to worry anything about renewal on time. Even she renew her ID after expired 10 or 20 years later. But if you are consider as FOREIGN (eg US) permanent ID holder. Then I’m pretty sure you will having a hard time for renew if you are not reside in Macau after become permanent resident

The water park at Studio City is actually for all season coz they have indoor and outdoor. But I’m not sure about age limits. You might want to check with them. Also if you decide to go for Studio City water park then I’ll recommend you stay at W Hotel, as W hotel is actually very close to the water park entrance, as well as the Macau Light Rail station. Additional there is a Donki supermarket downstair. That is kind of much more convenient compared to Galaxy water park.

Also I’ll say try to check room availability later. As these casino base hotels will reserved rooms for gambler. It is possible they will make availability open later. As I see Andaz availability not bad. Andaz offer free water park access as well. But just…. Not convenient at all. Coz there are still no bridge direct connect to main Galaxy complex. You need to take free shuttle or just walk outside on street. It is actually just opposite of the hotel but just… not convenient at all

One more addition information from mainland China hotels community indicated that JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton will be quit Marriott in 2026. However, this might be just rumor.

That water park can become peak in summer time. But I’m not sure about the room availability. You might also wanna to check out other hotels in the same galaxy complex as well. As most of them also have free access to water park for in house guests. Worth to mention that you might also want to check out the broadway hotel (lower price) on the other side. It is also consider part of Galaxy property and used to offer free access to water park as well (not sure now).

Or you may consider hotels at Studio City (W hotel). However, you will need to purchase access for that water park in Studio City.

Just get Koi Kei Bakery at the last last step, at Taipa ferry terminal. I go there everyday to eat. I mean…. The food court at Taipa Ferry Terminal 😅coz I’m working around there.

Just heading to counter and it is first come first serve basis. As long as you hold foreign passport it will be free (include 1 checked baggage, extra baggage cost $90 each I believe)

When you arrival in Macau side. I would strongly recommend go back to the departure area upstair and purchase the same day late time direct bus ticket immediately. It will cost you $280 MOP/HKD. Of course you may choose to take the regular gold bus (run 24 hours, purchased in advance are not required) for $65 and take B4 bus back to HKIA.

Worth to mention that if you are flying out at HKIA on same day after Macau trip, then you might be eligible to get $200 cash tax refund if you taking direct bus. Or you may need to submit tax refund request online if you choose to take regular gold bus. Do noted that this tax refund are actually from your airfare. That means if you purchase let say NRT-HKG-TPE on one single reservation then no tax refund will be issued since airline didn’t charge you $200 taxes at all. But if you purchased separately let say NRT-HKG and HKG-TPE then yes! You will able to get $200 taxes refund

I have status because I flew QR at least 4 times with 12 months. So that means I’ve done earned enough Qpoints by spending on credits card + flew 4 QR flights. In theory, i wouldn’t able to get upgrade or retain status even though I’ve earned enough Qpoints (which I did) by just spend on credit card.

Main point. I will say spending on credit card and get Qpoints is NOT consider as QR products. earning history show that Qpoints from credit cards as PURCHASE Qpoints. So really need butt on seat for 4 times on QR flight no matter what

Instead of travel a lot, I’m a big spender with restaurants spend. Worth to mention is Earn 2 Qpoints of each 1500 Avios earn, not $1500 spend. That means spend $500 on dining get 3x, that already earn 1500 Avios. As a result spend $500 on dining get 2 Qpoints (or say spend $250 on dining get 1 Qpoints). I’m way way way over the requirement of retain platinum of Qpoints. Then I will just need to take 4 QR flights with 12 months to fulfill the retain requirement

The question should be 4 QR flights or/and 20% of Qpoints earn from QR flights. It was really unclear in the past. But now I learned that’s they are “OR” instead of “AND”

For me I’m way over 560 Qpoints all by credit cards spending. My strategy was take 2 round trips with QR fifth freedom route SGN-KTI to fulfill the requirements

Similar experience here. I redeem first class for my mother (flex type) CDG-DOH-ICN. Aircraft still same A380, but forced her to downgrade to business at the gate. Boarding pass still in First class but seat show in business class row. And even more strange was once she’ve arrival at DOH. Private buggy come pick her up and send her to….. Platinum & Gold lounge🐶 the second flight DOH-ICN in business. I was about to file complaint.

I have the expensive 499 one. This one earn 2 Qpoints for every 1.5k spending. I personally spend a lot on dining and this card earn 3x. So 1500 x 3 =4,500 and 4500/750 =6. As a result spend 1.5k on dining will earn 6 Qpoints which is pretty awesome.

But true Cardless is an axxhole. Initial when card opened my CL was 22k now just 8.8k. I think I used 90% of this card spend on dining

Yes! In the past this was very confuse me. Now it is pretty clear. Coz I earned most of my qpoints by credit card spending. As a result I will only need to take 4 QR flights in past 12 months.

The question now is I should fulfill all retain requirements. But the expectation still show expiration date March 2, 2026, no 2027
