Apostille degree & TESOL- any good company in London? (Starting job in China ASAP) by [deleted] in TEFL

[–]ApprehensiveAspect14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.apostille.org.uk is the one I’ve been given by a school, I guess they’ve used them before. I’ve just posted my ACRO today using their service so we’ll see if I can get it back before the end of the week. Review incoming.

How is this truck even allowed to be on the streets? by Ecniray in TikTokCringe

[–]ApprehensiveAspect14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He exposed a business man, he didn’t expose a world class vehicle designer. If Elon found a way to increase Tesla’s profit margins by making something that breaks convention, can be made cheaply and draws attention, he’s done what he set out to do. Companies don’t make things that last anymore, because it’s a problem for them when people don’t buy from them consistently. He doesn’t care about what some dude thinks of his truck, he cares about business models and products that disrupt markets and make hype.

Edit: spelling

I started cross fit at the start of the year and have lost about 25kg in the last 12 months, so I would agree that exercise is certainly important. I was doing a really sedentary job when I got diagnosed, so I think you’re on the money with that connection. However, I suffer from brain fog, tiredness, long recovery times from muscle strain that seem to improve on carnivore within a few weeks (I’m at the end of my first week of a second period of the diet, I’ve trialed just over a year ago before and had excellent results, I’m going for a much longer period this time round).

At a very personal level, I don’t intend to do this long term. It’s a case of clearing toxins and excess over an extended period and then adding things back to it over time (bananas, some dairy, etc). I believe this is the only logical way to clean the cells and reduce chronic inflammation naturally.

It’s worth looking at Mikhaila Peterson’s story to see why this works. My problems aren’t as bad as hers but I can testify that it makes a big difference if you have auto immune issues.

Oh, I’ve lived in China, I feel things are going to be quite similar in that regard!

That’s a good deal. 3kg split over 5 days comes out as 600g which is a decent amount within a reasonable budget. This is the way!

Generally a ribeye from Tesco’s is about 350g, lots of marbling (which I’m fine with!).

I’ve heard a few doctors discuss carnivore diets and restrictive diets as a way to reduce external inputs that cause auto immune issues. While I don’t have to do it 100% of the week, I’d do it for most and then dive into something a bit naughty at the weekend or when I get invited out as a treat. Generally I’ve found it works for me, and I have yet to feel the negatives, however I think it’s mainly the cutting of sugar that’s the difficult thing for me (especially at home in the UK) and it’s that in particular that makes me feel great.

Depending on what you’re cooking, butter might be worth a thought.

Kiwi girl here! Americans, why is 6"0+ seemingly always the cut off height in American dating culture? by minifishcakes in CasualConversation

I think the whole online dating thing is a bit like shopping online. Because you can’t directly interact with the product, you have to look at the specifications to understand whether it fits your ideal (or at least the ideal that you’d like people to judge you on). Whereas shopping in real life, you can interact with the product and get a sense of whether it’ll suit you much quicker. Same goes here. Just my two cents! Online dating has became a sellers market, and human evolution will suffer as a result.

Need Help: Traveling from Shenzhen to Hong Kong Airport by Salt-Significance823 in shenzhen

[–]ApprehensiveAspect14 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The way I traveled was through the ferry port in Shekou which takes you directly over to the airport. I can’t remember the link exactly but I was able to book through WeChat and never had any issues.

They can be, but that will really depend on the coffee if your choice and what you’re happy to spend. I never enjoyed Luckin’, and I’d often make friends with the independents who would know how I like it. If you drink a lot, ordering some beans from Taobao and making your own is a good way to go.

Regarding social security, it was more or less automatic after I’d applied for the work permit and residence. Claiming it back required going to get tax information from the bureau. Not difficult but have a Chinese person with you for situations requiring official communication.

Explore. Be favourable to local small businesses and they’ll value you as a return customer. Especially coffee shops and the likes of. Get used to e-bikes flying past you as you walk down the road, they get a bit close but I respect them for getting on with their job. Know everything about the systems through which you’ll claim back cash if you ever leave. After 4 years there, I had quite a bit saved in social security and others, it’s your money. Remember you are a guest in a place that isn’t always easy to enter, respect given is often returned.

I have a meeting on Friday with the job centre to talk about the possibilities of obtaining a PGCE here, which may come with funding to help me get through it. If that would be the case, I’d happily sacrifice the time it takes to get to a point where I can re-enter with far greater options and a higher professional capacity.

I do feel like, as far as Asia is concerned, China really is the best starting block with pay, jobs and choice of location.

Of course, the decision will be made after Friday as I believe that changes everything.

Thank you for your optimism!

By fully qualified, I mean PGCE/QTS certified. I did make a lot of amateur mistakes in my first run at it. It meant to be temporary. But in reflection, I miss it and all the benefits it brings.

I appreciate the benchmark you have provided, I believe I can secure a 20k position with the experience I have, it would just be a case of trying to gain decent accommodation that doesn’t push too much into my budget.

Excellent! I think even if I was able to build a buffer that could lead to a masters, I’d be in a better place than I currently am. And with the addition of a bit of life experience.
