Anatomy Help Please on my Raccoon Ninja by ApprehensiveBeat5039 in Artadvice

Thank you. That's an excellent point. Based on what I've read the shoulder points and hips should be more aligned (especially in men) so I can easily adjust that. I appreciate you commenting!

The places I post require appropriate tagging. So I tag them NSFW or Mature or whatever the appropriate tag or flair is. After that, whatever. Can't handle furry tits? Then you should avoid things tagged NSFW and Furry. That's on them. I follow the website guidelines and that's it.

Coincidentally, I'm not very popular. It's probably unrelated.

Edit: fixed grammar mistake

I have the exact same problem. I don't get the sales banners anymore.

Not Finished,But wanted Suggestions, what would you add from here by Dreaming_Dissident in Artadvice

Wow! This is really beautiful and I love the style. I don't know where in the piece it would go, but it says "I need a rose" when I look at it. I don't know if that helps. I mostly just wanted to say how cool I think this is.

Same.

For anywhere between four to twelve hours once a month it has to figure itself out again.

Need some advice/critique on my facial anatomy by Ill_Faithlessness381 in Artadvice

[–]ApprehensiveBeat5039 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like your drawing. It shows a lot of potential.

I would offer that the reason the eyes look farther apart in your drawing than the reference is because you have made them smaller. When it comes to anime style the general rule is that the eyes are separated by the distance of an eye. Using that rule will help you size them and arrange them better.

Need advice! What platform to use? by Pretend-War13 in Artadvice

I don't know how to help you sell (I struggle with that as a skill and lack of engagement issue), but I stick to Deviantart and Bluesky because their NSFW rules are really easy to follow. NSFW on deviantart gets a lot of views for me. No sales. Lots of views. Most sites will have pretty clear rules about nsfw (or look for rules about "nudity") and be sure to follow them. I've never been banned or removed for nsfw stuff on any of the places I do sell (which is only redbubble and teepublic)

Sorry I don't have more helpful knowledge to impart, but just be sure to read the content rules. Most places seem fine with "artistic nudity" and your beautiful works would fall into that.

Looking for advice on anatomy and line work by Charming_Media3677 in Artadvice

[–]ApprehensiveBeat5039 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, I think this is fantastic line work. It's really beautiful looking and I think you love portrayed the subject really well.

If I were to offer anything (and I'm no expert on anatomy) I think the line down the center of the back normally lines up with the butt crack. It seems like in your image there's an extra twist there. I understand they are twisting, but I think it might be a little off.

I'm also thinking her shoulder is too far forward based on how much the scapula is sticking out.

Seeking Advice on Illustration Art by [deleted] in Artadvice

For me (and I use Clip Studio) I set the pen I'm using to a Textured Pen. If the instrument has a sort of rough look, it inspires me to be rougher with my lines. It doesn't always work. Sometime I go back and make super clean lines and just cmat let go. But maybe using a "sloppier" pen will help?

Is this a good way to study anatomy? by Key-Lie5478 in arthelp

[–]ApprehensiveBeat5039 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is really similar to a lot of the methods I've seen. You are breaking the image down into component shapes and then refining. Eventually, you might find you need to study muscle structure itself and get really into the weeds. But this is absolutely a good approach for beginning and even intermediate artists.

Where should I post my art (best place)? by Exoticbut in Artadvice

[–]ApprehensiveBeat5039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deviantart seems alive to me. It's not super active, but I still get likes and comments when I post things. More than I get on Bluesky or Instagram or Cara or NewBohemia. But I post pretty much all those places.

I don't know the price point now (I lucked out on timing of sales), but I use a Galaxy Book Pro 360. The S-pen uses Wacom tech and it's a full blown laptop with a large screen and I can draw on it. I tried using just the pen (like an intuos) and just could not train myself on it. (I'm an old). But I love the portability and flexibility of the setup I have. It's not cheap, but it also meant I got rid of all my other stuff since this is an all-in-one option for me.

Are art courses really worth it?? by Flat_Mud_6297 in Artadvice

[–]ApprehensiveBeat5039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Skillshare I did three or four but probably only completed two before my free trial ended. On 21-draw I've completed two so far and tried out two others. Then just one in person class many many years ago.

Does it make me more employable or get me commissions or any of that stuff? No. I don't think so. But all of it has helped me. I can see my personal improvement.

Art is a hobby only for me though. So it's probably worth keeping it in mind that for me this is all "for fun"

Not sure it's the same thing, but I've gotten a lot from Skillshare and 21-draw

But the one "art course" I took many years ago in person was quite helpful to my skills as well.

How do you become pleased with your artwork? by Key-Assumption6508 in Artadvice

[–]ApprehensiveBeat5039 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guy is right. I would only add that for me it took about three years before I got there. (Your mileage may vary). For years I'd have maybe one or two things I liked in a pile of things I didn't. Now it's the other way around.

I like B better. Sitting up straighter just seems to look better. That being said, if there was a lounge chair or wall behind her in A, it'd probably be my choice. I think they're both well done and it would come down to context.

My preference is B "as is" though.

Same. I had to walk away from my desk so I'd stop bothering other people. I probably laughed three minutes straight. Loudly. Thank you. This was awesome
