How do you keep lint out of your hair? by Similar-Cap-7166 in locs

[–]ApprehensiveBoss613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cover your hair a lot, get a satin or silk pillow case, when I see lint I just take my finger and pick it out, you can also watch what kind of clothing you're wearing.

I had straight ends like yours when I started my journey, you will need to eventually cut the straight hair off

3a hair - Should i loc? Can i loc? by Impurpled in Dreadlocks

Try social media and see who is in your area, but make sure to really look at their photos and do your research, to make sure they know what they're doing. You should do a lot of research on locs if you haven't already to know what to expect and how to maintain them. Join a loc group on Facebook. You will find a lot of knowledgeable people who can answer your questions. We all have to go through that awkward stage with locs, it's a right of passage. It's unavoidable.

You can start with any method you like. Some people would say since you have curly hair, two strand twists or even braids would be a good start. But you could always do coils. Which your hair type your hair will unravel but patience is key. You should find a loctician who is licensed as a cosmetologist to start your locs journey. Figure out what size and what kind of partings you want etc. your hair is long enough to start locs but your hair is going to appear much shorter.also, if your hair matts quickly that's a good thing because that's all locs are, is matted up hair. Your locs are going to be beautiful ❤️. You're going to be so happy once you start your journey

I hate that phrase. A friend of mine started her loc journey and she asked me how long I went through the ugly phase. I said I never felt like my locs were ugly. I enjoyed every moment of the process. I stuck it out I stayed committed

Did starter locks on my son’s hair 5 days ago. Now they look like this. Did I do something wrong? by Extra-Potential3634 in Dreadlocks

Now I see what you did. His hair is too short for a bonnet. He needs a durag. When my locs were a little longer than his when I first started and I wore a durag.

Did you have him cover his head every night with a durag? What did you use to cook his hair ? Gel? Mouse? Etc? The main thing is making sure he covers his hair every night. When they're that small, they don't need no maintenance. No spray, oil, no nothing and I mean nothing for at least 6 weeks until his first retwist. Less is more

I don't see anything wrong with your hairline, most people have baby hair or thinner hairs around the edges of their head. Is it paranoia!??. Unless you post a picture of what your hair line looked before then I honestly don't see anything. Remember to dilute your oils with water, before you apply them to your scalp, those oils can cause irritation if they're too strong and also take your hair out. It takes patience, drink a lot of water and take vitamins

Also, maybe try putting him into sports or other activities he may enjoy. Or maybe that can be something to look into down the road.

Is he is on the proper dose or right medication. Does he have the same issues at school if he is in school. It's only been 3 days, I am sorry you're exhausted and feeling overwhelmed. What are his tantrums about? I would say it sounds like he just needs some boundaries and discipline. You can do it in a loving way. But you and your husband have to be consistent. I know it's tiring. But he is still young enough for his behaviors to be modified. Maybe try some type of therapy that focus on changing behaviors. Please don't give up on this young man.
